Re: Supermarket rage

My biggest gripe about supermarkets in general is that quite often their own product is contained in a container that is very similar to the branded goods. And to make matters worse is usually alongside and carefully mixed in with the branded goods. Also their own product is inferior to the branded product. The only exception to this that I have come across is Marks and Sparks.

Yes indeed! Women are good at multitasking carolef. A bit like Jack-of-all-trades and master of none.

The phrase carolef is “Jack of all trades and master of none” indicating that if someone tries their hand at too many jobs they will never master any and that includes multitaskers.

The worst offender is Boots. The Warrington branch is close to my office and I sometimes pop in at lunchtime. There are never more than 2 tills open, with about 8 people at each of them, and the people on the tills regularly have a nice chat to customers who are counting out gift vouchers, money-off coupons etc., at the speed of light, and if they're going to change cashiers they always do it just when it's my turn to be served. It's infuriating when you have to get back to work.

I shop for groceries at Sainsburys and they're not too bad, though as I hate shopping I do the very large orders online. Their own-brand goods are very good quality and their checkouts are reasonable. It annoys me, though, that they always say, "Would you like help with your packing?" and then send all the awkward stuff down the conveyor-belt to me while they do the easy things.

The joys of a bank holiday. I nipped in the Tesco Metro on Argyle Street yesterday afternoon and it was like a night club there were that many bodies in. Its as though people think opening times will be short because of a holiday weekend. Most only seem to close for 2 days at Christmas and 2 at New Year. Wollies is getting a bad now as well for few tills big queues.

Yes, but as you probably are aware butty, we only use a small part of our brain and therefore we could become 'Master of all'. Looks like 'cause we women multi-task have developed a little faster than you men .. will also change the saying I think as per Carolef, but 'Jill of All Trades, Mistress of All'
will now take a run >>>>>>>>>>>>> :s_whizz:

Mistress eh! Isn’t a mistress someone between a master and a mattress?

Ooo! Heck! A sex war has developed!

Go for it ladies. You are only proving that women cannot stand criticism and will have the last word come what may.:engsmil:

Now back to topic.

Supermarket packers haven’t a clue on how to pack a shopping bag so I always decline their offer. Is it too much to expect that tins and things go AT THE BOTTOM and soft things like cream cakes go at the top or in a bag of their own not the other way around? Biscuits are delicate and break easily – so handle them with care. Mind you broken biscuits in custard is quite a treat. Don’t ram a bag of sugar next to a box with sharp corners. I prefer to use the sugar to sweeten my tea or coffee, corn flakes etc not a carrier bag.

Please don’t squeeze a nice fresh loaf into a space that isn’t big enough. In fact don’t squeeze my fresh loaf with one hand. I don’t want sandwiches with an hourglass figure. Use both hands to pick the loaf up and offer it to the scanner.

Finally, you may not have seen the customer in front of me for weeks but now is not the time to exchange gossip. Do it on your own time.

Nice one JB. :)

Been back to get the rest of my messages and dispite a BIG Opening Hours Sign Friday Saturday Sunday Open As Normal Monday 9am - 5pm the place is full of mad women on a "christmas shop" style mission. The bag packing left a lot to be desired. Glad I didnt need bread as it would have come of worse than my Almond Slices!!! :(

No intention of getting into a sex war Butty .. love the opposite sex, but have long come to realise that we are entirely different so no battle intended.

I always think of a mistress as in Mistress of the House anyway :p

Well, I'm off to Supermarket. will probably still be chatty at til whilst loading up my own bags because usually finish up with a mountain when they pack it ... i just whizz everything in. Must NOT forget to take out credit card this time.

Glad to see that you live up to your name and partaking of the bread. Don't forget the jam though :)

So what you are saying is that you overshop and hold up queue's? I like to get my goods and exit as quick as possible if its busy but can be held up by shoppaholics and natterboxes that aint right. ;)
