Smile Please – We Want Your Photo Too.
The hottest debate today is the revelation that speed cameras will also have a camera to take the photograph of the driver when the speed camera flashes.
This innovation is an attempt to prevent guilty speedsters from getting someone else to take the rap. Your comments are invited. |

The best thing to do is to go out very early in the morning to a camera which is regularly a barsteward with you; take lots of clingfilm and a ladder. :)
Blurs the image all lovely like. |

Re: Smile Please – We Want Your Photo Too.
You could always drive safely and stick to speed limits... Or is that too radical?.... Works for me I must say :)

Apologies for having a serious opinion. Lets see how much your laughing the next time you read the paper and someones speeded into a child crossing the road. Stick to the speed limits. Drive safely.... Unless of course its last orders and your not going to make it :) |
Re: Smile Please – We Want Your Photo Too.
In Germany they already do take photographs from the front, I know this for my sins, I was FlasheD doing 63kph on what I judged to be an open road. I was fined 40 Dmarks. 63kph is 50mph which did not think it was too fast for the area/conditions. The policeman who served the summons, (it was a company car from the firm in Germany) was friendly and even gave me a photocopy of the picture.
Interestingly they also use this, from time to time, to check whether drivers are wearing seat belts, something for which I never would be found doing. Funny story, and true, about the police who breathalised a person who was not positive, only to realise that, they had breathalised a pessenger in a British car. |
Re: Smile Please – We Want Your Photo Too.
Yeah in Germany they have removable speed cameras so they can place them anywhere and they all take a picture of the driver, the number plate of the vehicle plus a picture of the vehicle. I have not had a speeding ticket but i have had a ticket for tailgating, I was following my husband on the Autobahn and because i did not know were i was going i stayed kinda close and a couple of weeks later the polizei came knocking on my door and asked to speak to me, they then showed me a picture of me driving too close, Along came a €125 fine and 4 points on my licence!! Due to the speed of 150 KM recorded i was a tad too close. Now they have clamped down on this so i could have lost my driving licence for a month and a bigger fine!!

And with Cashman too, if you get caught, just pay up without grumbling; breaking the law after all. Still think, getting back to the original question, yes, good they are looking at better pictures of driver. Know a certain couple who incorrectly stated that the wife was driving, when in fact the husband, 'cause he was getting close to too many points on his licence and would have meant an automatic ban if he had picked up a further 3 points ... now that is a crime in my eyes. Lazeeboy: :rofl38: Bet the German police were red-faced, eh ? |
