Re: Bedside Table

I've got 2 small chests of drawers, one at each side of my bed. The top of one contains a phone, my electric toothbrush in its charger, a spare table-lamp (not plugged in as I have wall-lights) and 6 framed family photos. The other has a radio-alarm, my current bed-time book, a large bottle of Vaseline Intensive Care and a glass of fruit juice. I also have a large chest of drawers against the wall to the left of my bed and it has more books (about 12), deodorants, hair-gel spray, sun-cream, hair brush, mirror, box of tissues, jewellery box containing only sea-shells, photo of my late husband, face creams, an assortment of hair-bands belonging to my granddaughter and a very wobbly blue pot made by my son, at school, when he was 12 (29 years ago).

Re: Bedside Table

After reading this thread, I ran upstairs to see exactly what I have on my bedside cabinet - - -

One radio alarm, One fancy light, (now it goes downhill!)
A ticket to see "Alice in Wonderland" at the Burnley theatre for July 1st! (I DID go, I think)
A strange key that will unlock nothing that I am aware of!
A card quoting HEB13:1-2 Starting, Let sisterly love continue be ye not forgetful to entertain strangers - - etc etc I will blame one of my daughters for that!
A huge stapler (gotta be Willows!) - - and a dried up bottle of Gaviston (must get some more:p )

A tube of all purpose glue,
A bluetooth earpiece that has been dead for the past 6 months - -

and a tiny plastic teddy that my youngest gave to me a couple of years back to keep me safe while driving, Its so small, I keep it there so I don't lose it!

Now, after clearing the junk, I will have to go and clean the top as it is FILTHY!!!

A wierd contraption that fits two fingers and is magnetic (don't ask me, ask Willow when (if) she eventually returns:confused: )

Re: Bedside Table

Mine is really boring. A lamp, phone, a travel alarm and an ashtray. Sometimes my mobile ends up there should I need to get up early (the clock is more travel than alarm) and I usually have a book.

My specs would be there but more often than not, I fall asleep reading and they tend to share my bed! Lots of dust too!

Mine - a letter from the hospital telling me to ring them before 1.30pm - which i have done its just its still there for safe keeping! A packet of tissues because i've just chucked the box away, an ashtray, a litre bottle of water half full, receipts from tesco which ive just rooted out my jeans pocket, a pen, a book, and when i go to bed my fags, a lighter, mobile phone and glasses.

My alarm clock is on my bookshelf on the other side of my bedroom - simple reason i have to get up then to turn it off otherwise i'd never get out of my bed!

A question though for you - have you noticed the smokers all have a packet of fags, ashtray and lighter on their bedside cabinet/table? How many times have we been told not to smoke in bed!

Re: Bedside Table

Just lucky I guess. I was in the right place at the right time katex.

Sadly I’ve never had a power failure at night so the lamp’s true purpose has never been used. And now the re-chargeable batteries have reached the end of their life and don’t charge up, so the lamp doesn’t have a ‘real’ purpose any more. It still makes a good bedside lamp though.

I really must galvanise myself and see about repairing it.

Re: Bedside Table

You could have one at the top of the stairs or designed as a wall light and flex like ikea do their wall lights. I think all stairs should have an emergency light especially if people have a stair lift. Imagine a power cut when on their own late at night and they're stuck halfway up the stairs. Actually thinking about it the stair lift should have a light built in.
