Re: Fashion shame.
The best fashion mistake I ever saw was many years ago when tights very first started to replace stockings for women. I was on the bus from West End to Accrington when a girl got on at Church wearing a pair of bright red tights - and no skirt - which she obviously thought was the way to wear them. Fortunately they were quite thick and not see-through but it didn't help that the bus was full and she had to stand up in the aisle. Every pair of male eyes was rivetted on her legs and bum and every female over the age of 45 was tut-tutting. I just sat there nearly choking with suppressed laughter. Her face ended up as red as her legs.

Re: Fashion shame.
As an 11 year old it was the bay city rollers look. All tartan scarves, vest, even knickers, monkey boots and white jeans and jacket adorned with tartan.
As a teen it the was punk with pvc (couldn't afford leather) trousers. I also remember wearing what was affectionately known as my 'identity crisis' coat it was a maroony/ red suede thing with white fur running all the way round it like they wore in the 60's. I've actually remembered what happened to it... I made draught excluders out of it when I first left home! |
