I do not see life as disposable, but I think women should continue to have the choice of whether they have a child....and when. OK, I know that theoretically speaking, there should be no unwanted pregnancies with the contraceptive advances there have been in the last 50 years....but the fact is that there will still be failures of contraception......and there will still be human failures too.......an unwanted child is a punished child. It never ceased to amaze me that a woman could opt to terminate a pregnancy rather than give up a baby for adoption.....but again, maybe we have society to blame(in part) for this. Somehow, a woman is stigmatised for giving up her child....even if it is done in a controlled manner (rather than having the baby and leaving it on a doorstep somewhere)and certainly a child who is given up must go through the agonies of wondering why it was rejected....not the best start in life. Every solution causes a problem.

Stephen Hawking has ALS. While it is a very serious disease, it generally does not strike until adult years. Even today, there would be no way to diagnose ALS in a fetus. As a child, Hawking was physically normal.

And even when abortions were not legal, many women still had them.....the rich and priveleged would go to their favourite gynaecologist...hand over a nice wad of money and a D&C was done....the poorer relations sought out one of the women who knew about these things....they still handed over money....and sometimes their lives went with it.

I believe, out of love, I'd do to him what I'd want done to me in that case.

As for with meself, I'd more apt to "play" god. I would not want to live by any kind of machine. Is that "playing god?" My dad has always said the indians had old age right. They would go off into the woods in the winter and fall asleep. Is that "playing god?"

Do I let me dad do that? Heck my mum once told me if they ever start losing their minds, it is my duty to take them into the woods and shoot them. Is that "playing god" or obeying oour mother and father? What a huge weight to lay on ya kid eh?

(Funny thing about that, my older brother who lives up near my parents said they've never said that to him cause he would of taken them out years ago!):Banane36:

It was alot easier to play God, when I didn't believe there was one. In my life, all the above is taking the control away from God and putting ourselves in charge. I hope not to to that.

For most of me life, was pro-abortion (the murder of an innocent one). I now am pro-life but still question different circumstances so not radical about it.

Hey Peter, I don't believe I'm keeping God out of the equation if I don't want to have machines keep me alive. I mean, nowadays, they can replace almost every body part and keep most of those parts working with machines.

As I've stated before, I believe in an eternal existance with God. Why would I want to stay here, unnaturally, in pain and suffering? I believe God made man's body to last less than 80 - 100 years. I don't see how extending life to 130 - 150 years or whatever with machines is right. At least not for me. This is just my opinion on this!
