Telly Gaffs

Clocked two gaffs on the telly yesterday the first one was in Miss Marple on U. K. Gold. The postie delivered some letters which all had QE2 stamps on them, rather strange when the prog is set in the 30s. The second was in the Royal when the dock said to a guy who was having breathing problems that a nebulizer would soon clear up it up, unfortuneatly nebulizers were not used in the 60s they only came in the early 80s

I believe one of the Roman soldiers in 'The Greatest Story Ever Told' was wearing a watch too. I love spotting gaffes like that.

One of my favourites is in the film "Commando". The yellow Porsche get smashed all down the side, then in the next shot it's in showroom condition.

As someone who has used a home nebulizer since 1984 I think you will find that this form of treatment was started in around 1982. Previously pressururised nebulizers were used. I was treated in Bury General in 1980 with one of these machines which were called "The Bird" which was the name of the manufacturer. I first used an ordinary oxygen nebuliser in 1983 in Marsden hospital Burnley and purchased a conpressed air nebuliser in 1984 for home use. I have only ever seen the Bird used once since, that was in 1989 when I was in Queens Park. I found the article you pointed out in your reply very interesting Mick, allthough I still dont thick that ordinary oxygen nebs were used in the time the TV program was set. As I recall the doctors were calling the use of Nebs was a breakthrough in asthma treatment, a nd I have to say that without one I would not be here today

It drives me mad too, usually with costume mistakes, but could the Miss Marple one not have been correct? Depending on which story it was, some are apparently set after the Queen's Coronation, thus it should have had a stamp with the young Queen's head on? Just an idea.

This one was definately in the 30s or early 40s Rindi as the main character was a fighter pilot who was recuperating after a prang

Having checked the listings for yesterday, the Miss Marple was 'The Moving Finger', which Agatha Christie wrote in 1934, so the spotted mistake was well spotted.

watchin a jackie chan film the other week on dvd and the car went thru hell and back - even circling on its side sliding on its roof etc - but jackie being jackie parked it up in show room condition

most famous gaffes prob have to be the head bumping storm trooper or the mini's parked at the back of the ben hur set *or was that the watches*

I once saw a dressing gown I'd designed in 1990, on a television programme. It was being worn by an actor playing Oswald Mosely set in the 1920's.
