Silly Sock - NHS
I read an article this afternoon about NHS staff not being allowed to wear "Silly Socks". I didn't give it much more thought, until, i went into my local newsagents and saw the front page of tonights Lancashire Telegraph. I've posted a link below for futher details. It seems however that the hospital managers had a meeting to discuss the issue. What a waste of public money. I agree that there should be some sort of dress code, but this is crazy.

Re: Silly Sock - NHS
Surely a dress code is already in place for NHS staff so it should be adhered to. If the code doesn’t specify the type of tights, stockings or socks then I would interpret that as the choice being up to the wearer.
If I were a patient lying in bed with some illness or injury the last thing on my mind would be the leg attire of the nurse attending to me. If the management want to have a meeting about something they should consider bringing back the rule that nurses must not leave the hospital still wearing the uniform. |
Re: Silly Sock - NHS
These are the same managers that allow most hospitals to fall into debt. I'm sure that the time, money & effort could be better spent trying to save money & provide a better service. Are they now going to employ some sort of fashion police? Any person caught wearing "Humourous socks" will face disciplinary action according to the Evening Telegraph.
Again a serious waste of resourses. |

If however I am on the mend and I catch a glimpse of a 'silly sock', it might just brighten my day a little to know that the person that is dealing with me is human and doesn't always have to have a serious side to them. I thought there was a term, laughter is the best medicine? |
