British Gas are taking the P! (and all the others)

Ok so this might be just a rant, but i've just put £3.00 on the gas meter and the b*****ds have taken £2.10!!! Its FREEZING and i'm feeding the meter and lining their pockets. I know i am not the only one to struggle paying their bills. If things dont get better soon, i might consider digging my own pipeline !
Or more realistically stock up on hot water bottles:(

fuel charges are horrendeous at the moment. This could be the thing that brings down political parties if the opposition get their act together

their theiving bastards to say the least ..

they put meters in for people who struggle amd charge a much higher rate for the gas for the privilage making teh poor sod who was struggling struggle even more.

what is just as bad is that if you move into a property that has one and yo want it tking out british gas say they will but wont ever coem to do it because they know they are making more money as long as they force you to use their pre payment meters

switching companies dosnt work either because they also prefer to keep yo paying more

Re: British Gas are taking the P! (and all the others)

I get both my electric and gas from BG, both through pre-payment meters. Ive used meters for 20+ years and never known a meter gobble up money credits like this before.. My electric meter is going through approx £20- £25.00 a week, ive no hot water on or heating cause i ripped the storage heaters out myself last year. When i complain to BG about the electricity usage they say my meter is set right. When i compare to my neighbours who still have the economy heaters in and turned on and there meters are only going through £10 - £15.00 a week, somebody is wrong somewhere.
Got my gas bill a few months ago, it showed me the units i had used, and how much credits i had put on the meter .... i was over £50 in credit. Think i might ring them up in the morning and ask for a refund, that way when Hyndburn Homes install my gas central heating next week ill have £50 for the gas meter to keep me warm this winter.

Im seriously thinking of wiring my electric up to the lamp-post outside at this rate....Anybody got a generator i could borrow

What Chav says is tchnically right, me & tinks were having this discussion with her supplier who said yeh the pre payment meters dont really benefit the customer u do technically pay for the pleasure of pre payment also that if they dont correct the meter to the standing charges right & u move home u either maybe in credit or even worse - in debt despite prepaying, as chav says [bloody heck im agreeing with him ] it is ripping off poorer people & those not wanting struggle with bills !!!:(

Disgraceful the attitude of this country that actively encourages debt & discourages those that dont want to be:angry:

I have asked BG to remove my meter but because i have been in debt with them before, they said i will have to give them a deposit of £300 for them to do it! WTF is that about?

This £3 will last me till tommorrow, but when your brassic you just put on whatever you've got. I havent used the gas all summer this is the first week i have, i held out as long as i could!

i dont understand pre payment meters, why am i being charged more for paying my elec before i use it,when if i was on normal bills and payed quaterly i dont have to pay until the bill comes through,i didnt ask for a meter it was here when i moved in but they wont take it out unless i pay them to do it,so why should i be charged a standing charge and a meter charge as well as the bloody sky high elec prices

I think it's a no-win situation actually, then know we need Gas and Electric, so therefore can charge what they like really........IT SUCKS!!
