Goodbye Secretary Rumsfeld
While I was delighted at the outcome of yesterday's congressional elections here in the US, with the Democrats taking control of both houses of Congress, I was even more deighted by the unexpected departure of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
I'd be interested in hearing some comments by our UK friends! |
Re: Goodbye Secretary Rumsfeld
I'm glad is gone.
We need strong leaders, but we also need those same leaders to have the foresight to see the conseques of their actions in the long term. He seemed to believe that everything would be hunky dory after the fall of Baghdad, something that Iraq certainly isn't today, poised as it is on the brink of civil war. I hope the Democrats can now force Bush to serve out the rest of his Presidency with the hope to ending this conflict without too many more deaths. |
What I want to know is where did Lieberman get all the money from to enable him to win a Senate seat as an independant ? maybe he has foriegn friends ,
 ;) ;) ;) |

Re: Goodbye Secretary Rumsfeld
Now that he has been shot down and is out in the real world will he be honest with people as to why he did what he did? Now that there is a change at thye "war office" will we see it sorted and the boys home without any problems and Iraq nice and stable? Personally I think that he has done to much damage for anything to go smoothly and they way every one wants.

Re: Goodbye Secretary Rumsfeld
Rumsfeld was the arse-end of the pantomime cow that is George Dubbya. He only got the job because he was a "yes-man" & croney of the president.

Here in Georgia, the Republicans did very well. The party nationally ought to take note. In short, Republicans in this state did what they were elected to do and didn't dis the people who brought them to the dance. Interesting to see how many Democrats ran as conservatives in order to get elected this time around. What we down here refer to as Blue Dog Democrats. Let's see how independent these freshmen are when they get to Washington and have to deal with their ultra left leadership. It's going to be fun. |

Donald Rumsfeld was and is a hawk whose policy appeared to be shoot first and think about the consequences after. Mind you saying that, you have had some serious dipsh**s as defence secretaries in the past but he was about as evil as they get. I am also glad he has gone, I'm just worried about who follows him. |
Re: Goodbye Secretary Rumsfeld
Rumsfeld, the great, and according to Barb highly qualified war theorist, was secure in his job, and until recently had Bush's full support, until the election results were in...funny that.

Just remember, it ai'n't so easy when you are in the catbird seat. I haven't heard any rational alternatives from any of you people. How would you handle the current threat from radical Islam? |
Re: Goodbye Secretary Rumsfeld
President Bush’s refused to hold Rumsfeld accountable for his bad decisions on Iraq, which has led to growing violence and mounting casualties. This only hurts the entire administration’s credibility, which is already at an all time low. He was also caught in quite a few lie's and even if you think some of the Brit politicians lied look at this.
