Re: Carry On Regardless
i gave up when it came in up ere in scotland, the same as a good few of my fellow workers.now at work you have to stand in a bus shelter that theyve put up for smokers.the wagons have stickers on if anyone sees anyone smoking in the vehicle to ring a number. everyone now as to stand outside the pubs for a fag.

Re: Carry On Regardless
My lad went to Scotland in summer.Could'nt get his head round not being able to light up in pubs. Was okay at first but after several lagers, force of habit took over. After three or four warnings he ended up barred.Ended up drinking from the offy & gave the pubs a miss, the rest of the time he was there.

Re: Carry On Regardless
To those who are tryng to give up smoking - good luck. It's something I've never done so I've never had to struggle to give up.
For those who have no intentions of giving up, I just knew this gif would come in useful some day. http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/a...1&d=1164664834 |
Re: Carry On Regardless
Not sure this will affect me at work. I am a Health care assistant, and the residents have a right to smoke, so they can't ban smoking on the Nursing home grounds. They will have to keep a smoke room for these residents, so I think we will be fine.:)
I would like to give up but I purely have NO will power and always cave in very easily.:o |
Re: Carry On Regardless
wonder what mayhem it will have on the accyweb meets lol!!!!
Not been to an official one yet but from what ive heard theres enough mayhem without the no smoking ban heehee |
Re: Carry On Regardless
Why do the British always obey rules to the letter? The ban on smoking in public places started in Spain on the first of January this year and I admit that I canīt have a ciggie in the bank or the post office but most bars still allow it.
As long as a notice is displayed stating that itīs a īsmoking barī itīs legal. The only place I go to where there is a complete ban is the English run Bowling Alley! I was talking to a couple of girls from Scotland today and they told me that they arenīt allowed outside a nightclub after midnight and canīt have a smoke until they leave at three. Why?? They pay their entrance fee so why canīt they light up? Classing myself as a polite smoker, I wouldnīt dream of smoking whilst people were eating, neither would I smoke in someoneīs house or in their car but as far as Iīm concerned a beer and a fag go together and I just canīt imagine supping half of Stella without a ciggie. Back to the original question.......there is no way I would give up. Tried it once and didnīt like it. |

As a non-smoker all I ask is to be able to eat a meal without it tasting of someone else's 2nd hand smoke and for other people not to smoke in my smoke free home. Beyond that then if I choose to go into an area (pub for example) where other people are smoking then it's my choice to do so or not. If there's decent ventilation and the place isn't like a thick fog I don't really mind. I don't like the smell on my clothes and hair afterwards but guess what I do about that? I wash them! I think there's a lot to be said for having some places smoke free so that others can enjoy them - particularly asthma sufferers, but sometimes the rules get out of proportion. I'm a great believer in live and let live. |

sorry but no you will not be able to smoke, my wife works in the hospice and the smokers have to go out of the grounds even though they have some where for the patients. |

Re: Carry On Regardless
I smoke and i would never dream of smoking in someones house that i was visiting unless they smoked themselves and they offered me a cig when i was there. Been to Dublin and i didnt smoke as much as there as what i do when i go out here. Think there will be a boom in patio heaters for sale come July when they do bring this smoking ban in. But how many pubs will like you taking your drink outside the pub if you are going for a cig?
