Surely this isnt safe...

Ok so i'm talkin about the killings of the 5 women in ipswich. I know there's other threads so i'm going to talk about something else.

the blatant reasons police are giving out as to why they're naked and in a river - so that forensic evidence would be hard to come by.

i mean come on with stuff like this out and other documentaries that show how police solve crimes surely a would-be killer only betters his chances with gettin away with such

i was watchin a docu on the chohan killings in london and they were sayin how police tracked them via the mobile signals and whereas most of it was all circumstantial evidence aside from the mobile signals and the fact the father had managed to hide a bank letter of his killer in his sock.

what do u folks think? or will there always be one more thing that the cops dont tell us about?

I'm sure they don't tell us everything. It must be getting harder and harder for criminals to cover their tracks with DNA testing and everything.

I just watched that same program Mani and it was heartbreaking. One man's evil greed and a whole family wiped out. Those lovely little innocent children, never even found so they couldn't be laid to rest. I felt so sorry for the brother as he talked about finding things in the house, and wondering about the circumstances and if they saw each other suffer. :(

watched it myself, it says a lot for the building up of evidence to snare these evil scumbags mani, and no they never release all they know. the thing that troubles me though is the serial killer in the u.k. is usually caught by something entirely differant. theres been a good few examples.unfortunatly.

on that subject

anyone with legitimate sat nav like tom tom has to activate their product, its a pretty safe assumtion that every journey you make is recorded because your device if switched on comunicates with teh satelite

so if your planing of doing somone in lend your tomtom to your mate and get him to drive miles away from where you are going to actualy be ;)

Satnav is a bit like your love making Chav, its a one way thing (so I have been told ;)). The Satellite does all the giving and your TomTom does all the taking with nothing in return.

There is no transmission from Satnav to satellite so you can't be tracked by them.

Correct, GPS satellites are broadcast only. The only way TomTom would know where you are is if you chose to use their traffic notifications system and TBH there would be that much data to store it would cost them an absolute fortune

Now mobile phones, thats different as the networks know exactly what cell you are connected to and also your phone is constantly searching for new ones that have better strength than the current one so they can triangulate your position if necessary

If they could Use Tom Toms like that im sure it would be put to the best of uses and send us all nice fines for going 34mph.

Just on a slightly different note, there was an article on a tech website I watch. It was about Americas spyplanes and how they spent an absolute fortune on making them radar proof only to find out that as they travelled they caused interference in the mobile phone signals and could be accurately tracked by pretty much anyone.

Rather like the urban myth of them spending millions on making a biro that worked in zero gravity, the russians just took a pencil :D

Re: Surely this isnt safe...

i guess so but i'm sure this is just makin things even more difficult

the yorkshire ripper wouldnt have been caught if it wasnt for some luck and yeah fair enough to say they did get some bad luck wiht the fake recordings wearside jack i think they called him

in most of these cases its like a lucky break or a chance meeting that seems to catch the criminals

if the chohan guy never mentioned it to the woman about diggin up her field etc they never wud've guessed it

I actually agree with you mani!!

This had crossed my mind yesterday when they kept repeating that it is hard to get DNA testing off a body that has been in water.

The other thing that kept me thinking was! they kept saying on the news that the person must know the area because of the secluded areas he/she they were dumping the bodies. But with things like sat nav's available now you really don't have to know the areas do you.....
