I think they call it Free will or today it's better termed as Freedom of Choice. It will never go back to the old days, nor should it but a woman shouldn't want to seek the best of both worlds, you have equality.

Just to think, less than a hundred years ago a Man could have his wayward wife put away in a asylum for having an off the plot shag, or giving back chat.

The thing is both women and men have choices today, except like Accymel says when circumstanses dictate those choices are taken away.

In the olden days when women all stayed at home the housework took much longer. They didn't have washing machines, constant hot water, tumble dryers, vacuum cleaners, etc. The kitchen range and fireplace had to be blackleaded. Brass had to be cleaned and polished with elbow grease. Oilcloth floors had to be mopped, carpet squares had to be beaten over the line. Water had to be boiled for the dolly tub in which washing was possed and scrubbed against the washboard before being wrung through the mangle.

Good old days? No wonder the women didn't go out to work. They worked a darned site harder at home!

...and no reliable birth control, so many of them spent at least twenty years with a bun in the oven, as well as some tasty broth simmering away on the range.

I can place that, all of it. Church Street in the early 1960s. You forgot getting a jug of Ale and the poker ready and a hot meal on the table.

I don't think any right minded man would argue that women didn't worked hard back then, sometimes harder than some men. But times have changed and women have the world at there feet and their still bloody morping about it.
