Re: My mum has had a series RTA
What an awful thing to happen. Thank goodness things are looking a bit better for her.

Re: My mum has had a series RTA
Hey Alec, so sorry to hear about your Mom. I'm so glad she seems to be doing better and wasn't "as bad" as the paramedics first thought. Things like this remind us how fragile all our lives are eh? Glad you're there for her.
As my Dad used to say to me when I was little and hurt: Be Strong, Brave, Tough like an Indian (may lose a bit in "translation"):D Brian |

Re: My mum has had a series RTA
Oh Alec that sounds absolutely awful :(
I hadn't paid much attention to her not being online because she'd said she was going in hosp for a planned op so I just assumed it was that. Good job your Mum's friend noticed the lamppost and realised what had happened even though he did go back the wrong way to get to her! Sometimes you just have to do these things. Lucky there weren't any more cars in the way. I can understand the emergency services saying not to move her as that could cause permanent paralysis if someone has a spinal injury - but when the option is being choked to death by the seatbelt common sense has to take over and I'm sure he did the right thing and probably saved her life. She certainly must have had an angel watching over her and an angel going back to help her too. Give her our love and tell her we hope she makes a full speedy recovery. I know how hard it is to get to sleep when you're worried about someone in hospital. It will probably all catch up on you once she's home :) |
Re: My mum has had a series RTA
Wish her all the best from me as well.
It sounds a very nasty one. I broke my back in a motorbike accident 4 years ago. its quite a strange and scary feeling being told it when your strapped to a back board in A&E. With lots of support thats available and medical science as it is you can get back to pretty much a full life nowadays. GWS Jimmi5. |
