Got my renewal letter today. Another years no claims discount so my policy is 10% more expensive than last year

Thats the way car insurance seems to work :D
i ring round and check the web every year, dont necessarily go for the cheapest but the one I think is the best for a decent price

Thats how it works these days. The honest drivers have to pay extra for all those *ankers who drive around with no insurance. Crime pays !

My seventeen year old grandson has just past his test ,and they are asking £2000 insurance,,,So its no car for him yet, He is going to take a further driving test,so it will reduce the cost... He is a nice lad and not one of the nutters who drive like idiots, but of course he is tarred with the same brush,,, :(

Re: Car Insurance

try money supermarket.com it is changed on a daily basis and i always find cheaper.
in the last 12 months i've changed my insurance 3 times and saved about £200 a year because of it.

Re: Car Insurance

When i was passing my test my friend had already passed. He was quoted i think in the region of £1600 for third party fire and theft... on a vauxhall nova he valued at £50. And he found out that if he was caught with no insurance he would get a fine of aroun £250 and points. Guess what he did. I can see why some young driver dont have it. Not saying its right but you can see why when it costs soo much.

Re: Car Insurance

The thing with insurance is that it isn't your car thats important. It doesn't matter if you drive a £50 nova or a £200K bentley, you can both take out a bus queue of people or put someone in a wheelchair. Thats is what you are paying for.

Re: Car Insurance

Mostly right. Its not so much what car it is but its how easy it will be for replacement parts, cost of these parts, was it in a special edition colour etc. But yes it does go mainly off the stereotypical image of what age you are.

entwisi 06-01-2007 21:32

Re: Car Insurance

the vast majority of insurance is for 3rd party cover. When comprehensive then teh price of replacement parts etc comes into play
