Remember that old lady that wouldn't pay her council tax was it? If she'd have been locked up, she should still have the right to vote, so she can vote for the opposing party on the council if they were going to make her situation better.

She'd have broke the law not paying, but I still think she should have a chance to protest and vote if she feels she needs to.

Don't know if the UK law has different treatments for misdemeanors and felonies but, here in the USA, loss of voting rights is much more likely for felons.
