TV in pubs?
Ok I'm no prude but last night i was in the pub and like usual the tv was on. There was 4 women in the pub and roundabout 15 men. We were playing pool and we were watching tv while barracking the players. Anyway watched the programme about the child with no eyes - well what we could see. TV was still on didnt take much notice after that because i was playing. After we were all laughing and joking and if you want to know what was on channel 5 last night at 11pm look in your paper yesterday or sundays magazine. Anyway that set off some of the younger men- mind you it did come down to you need to watch this then you might learn something kind of thing being shouted around. But should this kind of thing be on tv in a pub. I know it was 11pm but what if someone who was in there was embarrassed about that and because of the amount of stick that was coming out about that - that they couldnt approach the landlord or landlady to turn it over? By the way it wasnt me or the other lady who was with me embarrassed - we were shouting and carrying on and giving some stick to the fellas.

Me and Ginger watched a bit of that Jen. It wasn't Bad you prude........ it was more like a documentary about all the dodgy names they can make up for porn like ...... Sex trex......Cumin to america, it wasn't full on in your face porn. Atually it was rather boring and I turned over after about 20 minutes.

I suppose there's the possibility that it could have had the effect of some people leaving the pub if they felt uncomfortable with watching it, in which case it might not have been in the landlord/lady's best interest to have it on.
On the other hand - if anyone was embarrassed by it they may not have thought of approaching the bar staff because they may well have been told if they didn't like it they could always go elsewhere. |

well it was on channel 5.. on anyones home TV so why are you asking if it should be shown in a pub at 11pm ?

for what its worth an i didn,t see it. nowt wrong with watching at home,but in a pub no. i couldn,t really give a rats personally,but can see how some would be offended. coarse its not as bad as watching burnley.:D

Well the two options are stay or go, and as shillelagh said it looks like some people may have chosen to go. I'd probably do the same if I didn't feel comfortable with something.
In fact on holiday I did just that because we were in the family cabaret bar and there was a blue comedian. I wasn't comfortable with the jokes being told and neither were several other families who left independantly. The upshot of that was that they don't plan to hire him again because they lost custom that evening. |

be great if I could watch chan 5 : every time I settle down to watch the afternoon movie it goes bang crash stick and then freezes and won't work: I hate digital TV: I wonder if sky does the same:

Our sky has been a bit pixelated lately and freezes now and gain. I put it down to weather conditions.
