Re: Why you should never go to a mosque...
Lol.
Ok two hundered grands quite a good salary, but I'd have thought the President of the World Bank would have been on more money. A UK dentist in private practice earns more than that. When I first moved to London I worked at Simpsons department store in Piccadilly. I used to sell Charles Saatchi fourteen pairs of socks every week. He wore them once, changing them twice everyday, then threw them away. A bit excessive, as being Jewish you don't even need to take your shoes off in a synagogue.:D |

The American who owns Sandles holiday resort, used to buy 365 three-quarter hose (knee length) silk socks at £55.00 per pair, once a year! I hope he didn't wear them whilst at his resorts though, as sandles and socks aren't a good look.:D |

Re: Why you should never go to a mosque...
I know the Amish women always have there head covered and I believe most Mennonite women keep their heads covered to but they aren't as strict about it as the Amish. I'm not sure about the ventilation of their socks though!;)

[QUOTE=Billcat;377630]Have to check up why on the head coverings.
Shoes are considered necessary, but unclean - especially the soles (if you've ever gone walking where people have taking their dogs, this is easy to understand). Therefore, they are not worn into the mosque. QUOTE] Ok .. know what you saying, understand re. mud, dog dirt, etc., but as most mosques used to be in hot countries in the world and men don't wear socks and sometimes shoes, think your barefeet are more unclean and open to the passing on of things like veruccas, fungal infections, etc. Would be interesting to see if more muslims have a higher percentage of virus infected feet. That's why most leisure centres ask you to wear some form of shoewear to the side of the pool, although this doesn't make sense either, as you always have to walk a few yards to the edge of the pool and can be in an out anyway during the course of your swim. Re: hats in church Willow, yes, they did, didn't they? but don't think ever had any religious meanings, just manners. Funny, how men were expected to take their hats off though .. |

Think women covered their heads as a sign of shame/atonement since they were ones responsible for original sin , and men went bare headed as a sign of humility :) :) |
