Why you should never go to a mosque...
World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz may be dedicated to freeing the world from poverty - but he seems unable to afford a new pair of socks. Mr Wolfowitz's sartorial deficiencies were revealed when he took his shoes off while visiting a mosque in Edirne, western Turkey.
Both of the grey socks sported holes with his big toes peeking through. The last World Bank annual report, for 2006, puts the president's salary as of 1 July, 2005, at $391,440 (£200,279). http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl...3180/img/1.jpg |

Re: Why you should never go to a mosque...
Good grief what a scruffy looking specimen. :D
When I visited mosques on holiday I wore a headcovering and removed my footwear too flashy. I don't object to showing respect for my hosts. Likewise I removed my shoes when entering someone's home in Tunisia as she and all her family do not wear shoes in the house. In an outdoor cafe we were also requested to remove our shoes - good job Paul Wolfowitz wasn't there! |

Re: Why you should never go to a mosque...
in venice when i went there - i went to st marco basilica and they had a small sign saying women should be wearing full length trousers and tshirts at least. no bikini tops etc
so we were there in the queue which was HUGE and had to wait for about an hour as soon as we got there there was a group of ppl turnin away - i thought dont tell me they've shut for lunch or somethign - but they'd been turned away cause one of hte women had shorts on. i think the guys werent allowed to wear shorts either just to clarify |

Re: Why you should never go to a mosque...
I suspect that thsoe socks were quite expensive. It may be like those torn-up jeans that the kids buy for extra money. This bloke may have spent many a quid for those socks and will now start a whole new trend.
Then again, he's probably like me dad and wears clothing items until they decintigrate into the air! Cheap b****** (guy)! Brian Chav, very kind of you. I too used to show my respect to the Catholic Church while dating Cindy. I told her I loved the foot rests they had in the pews and, although quite thirsty, refrained from slurping out of the free water bowls they provided at the entrances. My short role of Moses (let my people go) was a success as I relieved her from the clutches of The Church (much to her mum's chagrin):Banane11: ! |
