Re: Waiting in for Nowt!
Really pleased you got normal billing meter mel, those pre paid ones are a rip off and have to deal with people who have them on a daily basis and you have beat me on that one as I haven't managed to get one changed from pre payment to billing meter yet so good on ya :D

Re: Waiting in for Nowt!
Funny enough i got a call from manager of N power today wondering if the problem has been resolved - seems that my complaint worked, the bill meter was on his order so least it wasn;t a mess up as forgot to insert pre payment on it anyway, but like i said to my advantage - plus cheaper bills from now on. Just a matter of making sure all credit, overcharges etc are taken from the bill this coming quarter:D

Re: Waiting in for Nowt!
After they failed to turn up to swap meters after I took time of work and a terse email to customer services British Gas sent me a letter today.
We are sorry that we did not call at your property on 15 February 2007 as agreed to inspect your meter.  We appreciate that this may have caused you some inconvenience. We will therefore credit you £20.   I am wondering if they are having problems with appointments or it was my email. When and if I get over this I will celebrate a victory for the little people who suffer at the hands of these companies and recommend emailing displeasure to them. :D |
Re: Waiting in for Nowt!
Had time off yesterday afternoon for 'yearly' inspection of my gas boiler and gas fire. Ok understand the 12-6pm. time slot. Came at 2.45 pm. inspected boiler, brought out paper from his lap top, mentioned he had not inspected my fire. "Well, not on my instruction, so cannot do it for you" (stops people defrauding them I suppose) Not the maintenance guys fault, no facility for him to ring them to confirm, etc.Was the girl at the end of the phone who booked my appointment .. too busy trying to sell me their electric contract.
She did confirm would be the boiler and fire, but obviously forgot !! Now have to go through another appointment for the fire .. getting time off work, etc., least is a 2-hour slot 4 - 6 p.m Grrrrr. One point he mentioned was that by keeping my pilot light on .. it costs £ 300 per year !! What !! have two !! Is he saying £ 600 per year. Hate keep switching pilot light off, particularly on fire as always a pain to light again. This can't be correct. Am already trying to sort out what I KNOW must be an overcharge of my gas £130 per month, 'scuse me small house, out at work all day, etc .. nobody I know pays this ! All I get is directed to a number where they will help me save gas .. no, no, no .. not using all that much. Not sure where to go from here. |

Re: Waiting in for Nowt!
Katex your gas consumption sounds way over the odds - your meter could be running fast - I had one like that once - paid about £15 for a meter check and because the meter WAS faulty I got that £15 refunded + recalculation of last 2 quarters bills.
OR - your boiler may be old and inefficient - you might get some help with replacement - look here Central Heating Grants Available to UK Homeowners (72.52.135.154) |
Re: Waiting in for Nowt!
Aaah, thanks for your help Margaret. Seems boiler OK according to maintenance man, Burner Pressure, ventilation flue, Combustion all came up to scratch (yes, am reading his report). He said is not that. Could be that the meter needs 're-calibrating' ? Must admt, have had notices for them to change it, but could never sort out a mutual appropriate time, and gave up in the end, so maybe me to blame .. :o
