yep , thought it was the start of the big one , we get rumbles all the time but at a 4 pointer you start to think ......went thru the last big one in 89 and that was scary ( was filling up at a petrol station when that one came and overhead power lines started popping and dropping ) .

We have about 6 million living in the Bay Area so when the big one does come there will be casulties .......What with Earthquakes , Hurricanes and Tornados down south and the harsh winters in the north-east it kind of explains why North America never had any large scale ancient cultures/settlements or a large population prior to Columbus and mass migration fom Europe , all the old American cultures who erected permamant buildings, Inca, Aztec, Maya etc were in either Mexico or South America, apart from a few pueblos in New Mexico there is very little trace of any long term settlement , the native Amrican being mainly a nomadic hunter gatherer . kind of makes you wonder wether should we really be living here at all :D :D

Ah the joys of 'Fisco and the surounding area. Is it always shake rattle and roll on a 4-5 on the R scale? Better off moving away and being safe just in case an 8 hits.

I believe mucha muchachas means many ladies but, yes, it was indeed an attempt to emphasize the > 50% hispanic population in California.

Steeljack, not sure if you agrre but my biggest fear from a large disruption like an earthquake, terrorist attack, infectious disease outbreak would be the rampant gang and other low-life activity.

I have faith in the President and FEMA ;) ,
Yep, the ugly side reared its head during the Loma Prieta quake in 89 when the double-deck Cypress freeway pan-caked and collapsed and a few women who were trapped and crushed in their cars were later found to be missing their wedding/engagement rings and handbags when the emergency crews got around to retrieving the bodies , but its a subject not mentioned in PC company .

Did you hear this one...

All the wardrobe doors flew open, and I thought a neighbour's house must have exploded.

The noise came from the same direction you live from me.
