Ok. I read it but different words went into my brain

Surely people who wanted out of the relationship in the first place but were put off by the stigma/expense of divorce would indeed get out, and the rest who thought they were in the state's eyes 'married' would get the paperwork sorted.
Though some may see no problem with how they have been living up until now and keep the situation as it is.
Afterall, many many cohabiting couples have very healthy relationships and in lots of cases, healthier relationships than those of married couples as legal strains are not a problem.

Margaret, I have my second wifes permission to answer your thread, the fact that she is looking over my shoulder has no bearing on the reply I would love to give you, you get married for better or worse, as was said to my first wife.:D

After 23 years with Cindy she's kinda grown on me. I think I'd keep her!;)

Oooh, if those circumstances had applied to me and my ex husband I'd have walked away and never looked back. I could have spent the money that paid for the divorce on a new outfit, (the divorce only cost me £75).:D

As I said in an earlier post...we got hitched on a wet Monday morning at the Haslingden register office...our 'worldly goods' amounted to £60...so it was an extremely low key occasion. My hubby has asked me to marry him in more lavish circumstances ever since...aproximately at two yearly intervals....and I have said 'NO' every time......because as far as I am concerned that one time was forever....regardless of the place and the lack of pomp and ceremony.....after all it isn't the pomp and ceremony that make a marriage.....is it?

My stepdaughter got married at Rockingham Castle, which is a lovely romantic setting and far nicer than a register office. I can fully understand non-church goers opting for locations like that rather than a dismal office. In fact our church doesn't exactly lend itself to nice photo locations and we had to go up Queens Park to get a bit of a scenic background.

Would I do it all again? Yes, if somebody else planned it for me! The organising did my head in last time!!! Would we get the honeymoon again as well? ;)
