Re: major tom
i dont like it when your on a bus with the little one and you get some big mouth on the back seat!!
usually the girls, who have the gob on them, i have to bite my lip other wise i would say something, but not with the little un with me! |
Re: major tom
It does seem to be a lot worse everywhere these days.
|
Re: major tom
And I thought it was just me being sensitive. My husband tells me that effing and jeffing is everyday language nowadays...well, not for me it isn't. It is only acceptable if YOU accept it. I would have left...and let the Landlord know why I was leaving...and that I wouldn't be coming back.

Re: major tom
The Thorn is in Church.Used to be a nice little pub but its been taken over by the same company who got the Queens & the Railway in Accy & is now more of a sports themed affair. You do get a lot of younger ones in & can get boisterous at times. Not the place to take the missus for a quiet drink at the weekend.

Re: major tom
It's a noise, only offencive if you let it offend you. Saying that I do keep my language in check if there are people that could be offended within earshot.
|
Re: major tom
If they were being boisterous & invading your personal space then fair enough, but some people need to get a grip about this 'swearing' lark. It's only words!
'Swearing' is one of the most daft concepts in the English language. It's absurd the way people take so much offence at it. |
Re: major tom
I guess it's either my prudish/puritanical side or a cultural thing, but it really bothers me when I have to hear the f word, especially from little kids. When I do, I tell em to watch their language and they most always are respectful and apologize. Many of our friends will do the same with the same result.
What would happen if you asked "the girls on the bus" to tone it down? I certainly don't see bad swearing as "merely words!" I don't believe me or my family should have to be exposed to it. I know I'm in the minority and maybe it isn't as bad over here. It's like saying a women's breast is just a hunk of flesh so why can't I just have meself a grab on my way into the market? To me, swearing means a whole lot more when used infrequently! Just my tired old opinion! Brian |
Re: major tom
Oh, by the way Major Tom, in the future, would be a good idea to more closely identify your thread by topic. For example, "Telling Swearers to **** Off!":p (that's not a bad swear is it?)
Brian Oops, by the blocking I take it that it is. Sorry too offend, just trying to be silly over here cause there is no laughter today! |
