Re: We're all DOOMED, DOOMED I TELL YOU!!!
The debate on global warming is over ... global warming won. To try to argue that we are not responsible for the mess that we are in, or that it is some normal planetary trend is akin to arguing that the holocaust never happened. In the years I spent at university spending my time poring over the Middle Ages, I learned lots about the mini-ice age, particularly from information one can gain from the Icelandic sagas. And the general warming trend that one can see revealed in the expansion of land under cultivation in Western Europe. But what is happening now is different. Prehistoric ice masses, the Ellesmeer in particular I believe, are breaking up. Innuit people, who have an oral tradition going back thousands of years, are telling those who are willing to listen that immense, unprecedented changes are taking place. The discussion is over. Now is the time to act.

I have resurrected this thread because of an article in todays Independant
Public health: The hidden menace of mobile phones - Independent Online Edition > Health -seems that research in ongoing and some new statistics may give you food for thought about maybe using your mobile less often |
Re: We're all DOOMED, DOOMED I TELL YOU!!!
What about people who use mobile phones as part of their line of work? Will they be in line for compensation?

I know from personal experience how a transmitter transmitting a 25Mhz signal at 40Kw can burn a hand. In those days high powered transmitters were huge, so huge that I had to use a step ladder to get to the Aerial Tuning Unit. One day whilst servicing a transmitter I grabbed the transmission lines to steady myself and received burns to my hand. The power came from a neighbouring transmitter being induced in the transmission lines that I grabbed hold of. There was no visible sign on the skin but I could sure feel it underneath. Very high frequencies like used for mobile phones are nothing more than microwaves and we all know what microwaves can do. OK so the power from a mobile is extremely low but continued bombarding of the same area will eventually show an effect. A cell partially damaged from low power microwaves could turn cancerous. You could eventually cook a lump of meat in the microwave on the lowest power setting. Poisoners, in days gone by, killed their victim with tiny daily doses of arsenic. The cumulative effect was deadly. Wasn’t it Napoleon who died from arsenic poisoning because the wall covering was laced with arsenic in one of the paints? A tiny dose of something nasty will not have any noticeable effect, but continued doses over a lengthy period of time can. The point I am making and have done for many years is that the mobile phone is not a danger if used sensibly and the part that radiates the signal is kept well away from the body let alone the head. |

Yes you are correct about old Boney. Rather have a massage of sound waves than slowly cooked by microwaves.
