Does anybody out there really care that Prince William and Kate Middleton have split up. It seems to me that the news stations are scraping the bottom of the barrel for a news story. It really really annoys me that there is all this hype over a twenty year old kid that has split from his girlfriend.

WHO GIVES A CRAP.

i completley agree. Get them out thats what i say. There are people in this country living in poverty. That shouldn't be happening in Britain these days. They should share their money a bit and give the people they pretend to care about a bit more of a fighting chance.

I am republican and I care. I would have liked to see the next king marry a middle class commoner -it might bring an end to the monarchy - suppose that's why 'granny' intervened.

The point i was originally trying to make was that the news was completley dominated by this story. Was it really that news worthy considering all the other stuff that is going on in the world,i think not. Just interested in what everyone else thought.

I don't care one way or the other. However, what does sadden and anger me is the reported snobbery of the friends of Prince William's friends, regarding Kate Middleton being seen as from a lower class.

Apparently saying 'doors to manual' every time they saw Kate, referring to her mother's job as an air hostess, is pathetic. She has parents who actually work for a bloody living, whoopie do. Most of the chinless wonders William hangs out with, such as Guy Pelling, couldn't work out if they were constipated, never mind actually work for a living.

Sadly William seems to have more of his father in him than his late mother.

This may be considered off topic but whilst we are on the monarchy topic -
I think it is bit ominous that Harry is going to Iraq.
We will have to wait and see.
I suppose it will be easier for MI5.(in keeping the 'bloodline' pure)

Interesting point because the news often winds me up with it's attention to whats going in the rest of the world while our domestic stories get relegated to the 'and finally' spot. On the rare occasion our domestic news is headline stuff it usually involves the fact a member of the royal family or politician is/is not having it off with somebody.

Mind you I suppose we get variation unlike the States where the news programmes don't even know the rest of the world exists.

I felt that it was very telling that his friends saw fit to make fun of Kate's mother. It should tell Prince William that he needs to find some better friends.
He may yet live to regret his decision to dump Kate....after all isn't that what Prince Charles did with Camilla. History repeats itself.

Two young people got together at Uni. His family liked her, she was a nice girl, her family thought he was a "good catch" and encouraged it. They finished Uni and entered the real world. She wanted to get married and have babies - he discovered there were other women out there and wanted to have a good time. It happens all the time.

If the Press, and the Public, wasn't so absorbed with everything Royal it would be a very minor event. Does it really matter? No, of course not, it's nobody's business but theirs.

Believe it or not Lancsdave, we did get this news in the States. We even received the news of Diana, Camilla, Princess Anne's "criminal" behavior ;), and oh yeah, we heard something of that chunnel thing. Is that a new amusement park or something?:rolleyes:

In fact we've been getting news of England ever since the phrase The British are coming, The British are coming! I believe that was when the Beatles popped in.:p

Oh, and on topic, don't care about these stories whether from over there or the Anna Nicole waste of news space or O.J. Simpson, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton etc. However, as hard it is, I respect the Monarchy and have incredible pride whenever I hear "God Save The Queen!" Finally I believe Victoria is doing a spot on job over there!:p

I will admit to being a "royalist" but the present bunch leave a lot to be desired , I think I would approve of Anne being next in line after Charles instead of the hooray Henry's who seem destined to bring the Crown into further disrepute.:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Not one bit to be honest most of the news today i dont care about. Is anyone going to say that they dont really care about the shooting in amreicaland last week? Nobody will but alot of us dont care but are to affriad to say what they think. Wimps!

Not much different from over this side of the pond. Many trees die futile deaths so that we can read trash about trash. To paraphrase Rochester (the poet guy, not the Jack Benny guy): "Much ink was spilled in grave discourse of who does who, and who does worse."

But I still like the monarchy. Elizabeth is Queen of Canada too, don't forget. I remeber that King Farouk once said something to the effect that the last 5 royal houses on earth would be clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades and Windsor.:cool:
