Alcohol concern Parents could face prosecution if they give alcohol to children under the age of 15!! {even responsible teaching or with meal alchohol**

Good news that this problem has been highlighted, many of us have had the pleasure of drunkard kids on the street, but do u think that prosecuting parents will work on those that will get alcohol from somewhere else - even dodgey shops, credit in a lot of cases these kids parents probably dont give a crap where there kids are or what they are doing - but there'll be a good handful of those parents that have been lied to or innocently dont think there is a problem & are safe, ie sleepovers. Also do some actually care if their parents are prosecuted???

only problem here is like other things,it will probably be great auntie nelly that gets done,and the parents that dont really give a crap- dont.

I don't see why there should be laws about such things. There is no law that says I can't let my 2 year old drink bleach. I know which is more dangerous. You have to hope that parents are protecting and looking after their children.

Anyway just because something is not illegal does not mean you have to do it, no one is forcing us to give our 5 years a quick brandy before bed, then again it might not be a bad idea some nights :)

I agree with you Accymel i don't think the parents do give a crap what their kids are doing. Our neighbours have a sixteen year old son and they let him do what ever he wants. On a regular bases i have seen him come home with his mates with trays of lager from god knows where and getting absolultley bladdered, to the point were him and his mates are vomiting out in the street. I think his parents should be prosecuted, but would it really do any good. I think not.

An interesting comment made & i cant remember which media i heard it on probably gmtv lol, that trouble with this nanny state is that its taken the responsiblity out of peoples actions its a blame everyone else but me attitude, i've known parents that are at their witts end because their child rules them rather than other way round & do teens care that much if their mum or dad gets punished for it except when too late, what about making the teens have responsiblity for their own actions - a lot know more than we think they do, its like punishing your brother for something u have done isnt fair & thats what is happening in sence here. On the flip side there are a host of parents that need to parent & clearly dont & this punishment would possibly make them rethink.

Also agreed be hard to police but the wider issue is teens are getting drink - probably not even from their parents & are louting on the streets causing anti social behaviour, but as i saw tother week even the police just sit there till they walk round corner & then ****** off:( maybe like in some areas confisgating their ale/alco pops & escorting them home to their parents with strong warnings would be a better pro active approach, then if the same child is constantly being caught drinking then taking further action would follow thro the law.

I absolutley agree. Why does it make sense to us lot and not to the people higher up that make the rules and enforce the law.

Because most of them have never looked after their own kids, they have nanny's :)

I have friends in Italy and France, both countries were children are brought up to regularly drink watered down wine with their dinner.

Alcohol isn't seen as something you need to get as much down your neck, just as soon as you're able, unlike here. They can't believe how much we drink here, the only goal being seemingly to get off our faces.

I've never seen the same drunken madness in those countries, as I see here at closing time. Perhaps they have the right idea.

didn't that stuff what you used to rub onto babies gums when they were teething have some sort of alcohol in it ? , I'm talking 30 or 40 years ago before this stuff what you buy now for temporary toothache relief .

probably on same shelf as the Fennings fever cure :D :D
