Since I come from Southend, I can talk as an "official" southener. I don't know anyone who thinks Lancashire is full of industry and has no countryside and I don't know one gay person where I live at all.
Still, that doesn't stop anyone from calling me a "Southern Softie" when I'm up North and a "Northern poofter" down South. There's no pleasing some people...

We have steak and pepper pies. Down south they dont even have pie, peas and gravy. There must be more puffters down there.

they have Pie, Mash & Liquor in the East End....mind you, the pie's are rubbish. Hollands could make a fortune if they tried a bit down here.

I couldn't get mushy peas the last time I was in a chippy down south (Kent) It's happen as well really, as I was sharing the car with 3 friends and didn't really want to offend them on the way home. :D

Finding Mushy Peas in the South is like finding a Pork Pie in Pakistan....if you do manage to do it, you'll pay for it but you'll have to think twice before eating it. I would recomend instead a good potion of Jellied eel...lovely stuff...yummy yummy yummy
