Re: Thanks for The Memories Accyweb!
If you'd have stopped any longer with me Brian. You would have been in no fit state to meet the rest. It's a mean day out with a seasoned old boozer like your's truly, anyway like iv'e said before there is nothing sounds more insincere as a New York shop assistant asking you to "Have a nice day" you should have used the one I taught you "take care";)

Ianto, (unable to open your PM or wish Entwisi a happy birthday and anniversary), it was nice going to the pub with you. Spreading out the 2 pints made it no worse for wear. I already most always say "take care." But like I said previously, it means the exact same thing, at least over here, as Have a nice day or even Cheers, Cheerio, Shalom, Avetisain (sp?), See ya later, or even my own personal favorite of late Keep (bloody) Smiling! Just trying to help y'all (ewwww) get over this disdain and misunderstanding (IMO) of Americans use of H.A.N.D. ! Peace Out! Brian (of the Glossop/Hadfield Atkin's) |
Re: Thanks for The Memories Accyweb!

"Tha saunds like sumbody draggin a fender down ossy" He walked away scratching his head and stopped singing. Have a nice day! |

Re: Thanks for The Memories Accyweb!
It irritates me when they say 'you guys' - that is incorrect 50% of the time

Re: Thanks for The Memories Accyweb!
The term "you guys" is very common in the Northeast U.S. For some reason, guys is meant in a very generic way. A bunch of girls will refer to another bunch of girls as you guys, or better yet from the more Billcat specific area around New Yawk and New Jersey, youse guys.
So yet again here is a "nice";) expression that, when misunderstood or mis-spoken, in another part of the country or world is taken in a different way. I guess it's like "me mates." I always thought of that as meant just for guys. Obviously it's used for either sex. Same is meant by you guys. Have a good day, Brian |
Re: Thanks for The Memories Accyweb!
Shouldn't it be Guys & Dolls?:D

Re: Thanks for The Memories Accyweb!
My daughter refers to her friends as 'you guys' whether they are male or female.
