Sorry, forgot to mention - employment for a web designer who hasn't got the first idea about a practical website and who has concentrated too much on being 'designery' and not enough on developing content.

Four hundred thousand ponds????

What a friggin' waste of money.

They should have had a competition for school children to design the logo. It wouldn't have cost anything, and would have been a better design.

To me it looks loke the maple eaf, on a Canadian flag.

Perhaps Peter Britcliffe can find out which design agency was used, so they can also do our new council logo.:D

I've just fallen off the chair laughing and hurt my back again - I hold you responsible Garinda. :D

That's very good, and better than the offical one. Which account do you want the £400,000 paid in to?:D

That would of been the best idea.

Totally agree, Gayle. A Manchester/North West agency could have done it for one hundredth of the cost and made a much better job of it too.

In fact, it's an almighty cock up and now the great and the good are trying to justify it with meaningless platitudes.

"This is the vision at the very heart of our brand. It will define the venues we build..." Seb Coe, organising committe chairman

"When people see the new brand, we want them to be inspired to make a positive change in their life." - Tony Blair

"This is an iconic brand which sums up what London is all about -an inclusive, welcoming and diverse Games that involves the whole country." - Tessa Jowell, Olympics Minister

"The new Olympics brand draws on what London has become - the world's most forward-looking and international city." - Ken Livingstone

A collection of third-rate marketing cliches that would shame the most wet-behind-the-ears junior account executive. In other words, a load of bull...and there's more of it to come!

It's like when you used to be given months to do a project at school, forgot all about it, and knocked it up the night before. The artist must have laughed himself senseless on his way home thinking "how the hell did I get away with that?" :)

What makes it funier is that when it was first shown to the Olympic lot somebody must've gone "Oh, that's brilliant, let's use that!" :D

Re: Olympic Logo

But hey, if you were that designer wouldn't you just charge the top whack. If everyone else is ripping of the olympic committee you wouldn't want to miss out would you?

Re: Olympic Logo

Gulp.. well, I sorta' like it. Growing on me and does come in lots of colours.

Bit solid maybe for reproduction on t-shirts,trinkets, etc., however, extremely striking, unforgettable and obviously controversial and futuristic. Think they could have given London a capital 'L' though .. don't approve of that.

Sorry comrades, give this the thumbs up ..

Would love myself to see the breakdown of the cost, but would have been the same if we had all liked it I suppose .. would you have questioned it then??
