This Fizz character..... hmmmm.... perhaps they need to attract some big name celebrity in order to put new life into the event. Someone say like..... Wurzel or Emu. ;)

Unfortunately Worzel can't come back because Jon Pertwee is alas deceased. The year he came we also had that fantastic motorbike acrobatic team. They were brilliant.

Emu also hasn't been feeling himself much lately, since Rod Hull passed away.

It was not the best carnival Accrington has ever seen but I don't think it should be scrapped there is always the next one. TM I don't watch Corrie so I had never heard of Fizz but at least she showed some interest unlike those hiding from the rain in their cars.

I didnt go up to the carnival field i went home afterwards. So dont know what it was like up there. But seeing everyone getting ready and there was a fair few in the parade i would say they should carry on with it. Wonder if Rossendales will be as good next weekend?

Just to clarify, my comment was very much tongue in cheek.

I enjoyed it, I think its one of those nice throwbacks to times where events like this were major parts of a towns being. It would be a shame to lose them

As I posted in the other threads, it was a shame that our local 'celebs' all hid from the bit of rain whilst Fizz was there roof down having a laugh and generally taking a full and active part.

I remember when I was younger,it would have been sometime in the 1980s,Rod Hull and Emu did appear at the Accy carnival! I remember sitting on my dad's shoulders to get a better look, trying to see if Grotbags was with them.:)
