Id have had to own up too.£135,000 is just too much money,it would have been on my conscience all the time,wondering if the bank were on to me yet.I couldn't cope with the worry of being found out if I spent the money.

If this girl/woman has spent £135,000 in the time it's taken the bank to notice the mistake, then she obviously knew what she was doing and therefore she now deserves to suffer the consequences.

If I found extra cash in my bank account I would tell the bank. I would also tell them that I am claiming 10% for recovering their money for them.

There was something on the news today where a kid bought 2 Playstations on E-Bay and the parcel arrived stuffed full of cash (several thousand) but no Playstation. The police have the cash now whilst they investigate.

Difficult one this, depends on ones cicumstances, you can bet the person concerned had many friends for a short while. She could have transferred the lot to an offshore account, and said the same person that put it in the account, took it out, Mr/Mrs nobody:D.

I would be daft to think that 135 quid was mine to keep. I would have alerted the bank to the error.

In Flashy's case, in earlier years, I would have, and have, done the same. However, your putting alot of trust in the person you give that money to rather then the company they work for.

I now would take a different tack. I'd have waited outside the ATM machine as the person would shortly notice the money gone and come on back. If I hadn't the time, I'd have left a note on the machine or with the bank to have the person get in touch with me.

I just put myself in the person's shoes that "lost" their money. I would sure hope and trust (but probably not expect) the money be returned to me!

I think the lass must have been a little naive thinking that someone's just dropped £135 K into her account for a shopping spree !! Surely it might have crossed her mind to check out where the dough had come from !! By the looks of it she's going to have a bit of time to reflect upon her mistake !!

this actually happened to me, i recieved my bank statment through the post on my way to work opened it whilst having a brew, lo & behold i had a grand (1,000) too much in my account ...mmmmm what did i do? took timeoff work went straight to the bank asked the cashier to checkmy account she came back & said it was mine (no1) i asked her to check it again (no2) said it was mine again, then i saw the undermanager & asked him to check it, they both went off together, came back said it was mine (no3), i then said ."if i draw the whole amount would that be ok" the reply was yes .........i did keep telling them it wasn't mine .................i then saw my friend peter the bank manager so i asked him to check it for me, so off they went , bank manager, undermanager, cashier to check ........after another 20 mins they came back to tell me it was not mine (thank god ) it was someone same address different town ..........i then got a letter off the bank telling me i was overdrawn £6 the cheeky b*****d's .......i was told later i could have legally kept & spent it with no come back as it was a mistake by the bank .

I know as a man of principle it wouldn't affect your actions, but the amount was actually £135,000. In your Micky Mouse money over quarter of a million dollars.:D

I'd have opened a high interest account bunged the lot in there so that when they came for it I'd have at least made a few quid :D, but also have the money to pay back.

Of course she knew it wasn't hers. (Actually I loved the quote of "some of hte expenditure was run of the mill like Asda and Tesco's. Othere things were more exotic like a £10,000.00 holiday and items from Simply pleasures and Anne Summers.":rolleyes:;)

With regards to Flashy's £350, I'd have done the same there is a huge difference between a corporate entity and an individual.

I think that about 'sums' it up, there is a big difference between the two, right is right wrong is always wrong. this young lady knew the money was not hers, a calculated mistake, with the benefit of hindsight she may have been well rewarded, but most importantly she would have her good name intact.;)

Aw Rindy, I knew it was that big of a number. I was so concern with not having that little pound symbol on my keyboard, I just wanted to spell quid right. And actually, with the weakeness of the $$$$$$$$$ it amounts to ~$171,435;).
