Passport making me example ?
Really damn annoyed more than damn annoyed!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
As u gathered with 'what wound u up thread' im having serious issues with passport agency over my 1st passport - yeh over 31 & applying for my 1st passport what a shocker!! They still not processing my application because they dont beleive i am who i claim i am - most of u know my circumstances but this is seriously hindering anything i do. Im a english woman born & bred here as many generations of my family - YET they are claiming with threats of terrorism & passport fraud this over pedantic method is to prevent that mmm!!! Problem is they want to see proof via letter that im resident here etc etc, they wanted letter one off the list of that covers the whole period from jan 06 - present day: Employer - i dont have one Benefits agency proff of claims - errr dont claim benefit now Tax credit - only just got new claim sorted - so not covering the period above! HM services - no im not in the army/forces Morgage co/Landlord - have landlord but council rent book/their official letters to me ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH neither is this years council tax Dentist - erm only got a dentist this year thanks to G Pope so doesn't cover the period they want!! SO WTF DO I DO then when none of the above apply ?????????????????? SO i sent them sols letter to to proof my circumstances 2005! Council tax official bill Rent book - this & last years Letter from greg pope to NHS with my details on 2006 TV licence - another GOV doc 2006/7 Driving licence provisional with signature & details ^^^ the above cost a bit in postage which passport ag dont cover - YET NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! Im not using another name - i got divorced which they have proof of. What more proof do they damn want!!?????:mad::mad: Funny i cant ask them that cos they damn wont answer the phone to me gggrrr:mad::mad::mad: Annoying when the passport agency has been reported in the press for their willy nilly approach to foreigners getting passports without a prob for those claiments!! This country is going to the dogs bigtime - no wonder they wont give me a passport - cos i may damn well not come back to the 'green & pleasant land' - my arse!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR:mad: |
Re: Passport making me example ?
mel are you ringing london? or liverpool? i would suggest you turn up in liverpool if they are dealing with it .....it might help seeing you in person. mind you id be livid too...sounds stupid to me .
|
Re: Passport making me example ?
It is Liverpool thats dealing with it - probably not letting me the genuine person so they can use my details & passport for some illigal!!! Im sooooo angry cos a passport costs a fortune that we've paid them, funny is the child passports are here ready for use YET they are not allowing mine - which is what i dont get?!!
Looks like the only visa im allowed is to flipping Yorkshire & thats it!:( |
Re: Passport making me example ?
The thing thats breaking me up to pieces is that 4/5 of my family can now have a lovely holiday somewhere nice but cos of this crap i feel im spoiling it for them cos its a case of they go without me or stay & suffer because of me - thats killing me:(
|
Re: Passport making me example ?
why don't you try contacting Greg Pope and asking him the questions you have asked on here....it may help....and it can't hurt to let your MP know of the difficulty that a bona fide resident of this country has.
He may even be able to give them a kick up the proverbials. Good Luck Mel. |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Oh Mel they are a waste of space.
Me and Ginger applied for our passports 2 weeks ago. When I was filling the forms in it said " If born after 1983 you need to send Mother or fathers Birth certificate and if you are applying for first time passport"....... so I told Ginger to ring them and ask why they needed parents Birth certificates when it clearly states on OUR Birth certificates where our parents were born.:( Cut a long story short after ringing them 4 times about this matter ( because Ginger lost contact with his mother years ago) 3 people told us we needed the Birth certificates and 1 person said " no if you was born after 1983 you dont need to send parents certificates" Talk about right hand not knowing what left hand is doing. " So in the end I just sent our forms off WITHOUT parents B/C's. Even when we were doing check and send she said " oh they will probably send them back asking for Parents B/C's" ..... I told her we'd risk it. Hey presto 7 days later my passport back. 9 days later Gingers back!!!!! It's a absolute disgrace that they don't even know all information!!! Then we found out that as from 1st July 2007 for your first passport check and send is free!!! and post office isn't allowed to charge!!! they charged me cheeky gits, so I am reclaiming it. AND another thing, I didn't know til all this, that you can apply for anyone's birth certificate ........ We rang Yorkshire where Gingers mum was born and asked " is it possible to get my mothers birth certificate?? " " oh yes just give us her name, D.O.B and we will send it through the post" .... omg alot of people see this as a form of identification, and you can request one over the phone  hmmmmm worrying. |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Slinks, from reading that I think you are saying that they were your first passports ? Is that correct ?
|
Re: Passport making me example ?
Do u know Slinky - u hit the nail on the head there, exactly what i was saying to Dave, that THEY should be checking me out & with all the documentation i sent - including greg pope - all they need to do is ring those people to verify - BUT no they want a stupid letter only - yet all the docments i sent are originals [i so hope they dont lose them] of various people official that have had personal dealing with me - even HH, but they want just a letter headed letter, that if u were of fraudulent mind could docter anyway!!! Makes me highly suspicious that they are not contacting the people i've forwarded that are technically on their list of approved, seems they want me to do their job for them by prooving meself!!!
Errrr what am i paying my passport for at extortionate rates??? |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Awww Mel, what a horrid situation to be in.
They are usless because due to a serious error at the Passport Office, I have 2 passports!! I lost mine and only realised a week before I was going on holiday, so I phoned them up and asked if I could go down, so I went to Liverpool on the Monday to take all my forms etc.. and returned on Friday to pick it up. No problems, anyway I went on holiday and when I returned I had a package from the Passport agency - a 2nd Passport!! I phoned them up to tell them and they just said "oh its fine, you can use it in an emergency" (I did feel better though when I went to live in Cyprus as my Mum kept one of them just incase!) Your situation is very baffling, I have had my name changed by deed poll and that caused no problems aswell. So with all the ID you have sent them I can't understand what the problem is, have they actually said that they don't think you are who you are. The only things I could suggest is, as Mez said turn up at the passport office and stamp your feet until you get to see someone senior, or go to see Greg Pope personally and see what he suggests. You might not get anywhere with that one, but at least you have tried. What about getting in touch with a newspaper?? |
Re: Passport making me example ?
I worried about getting the full birth certs & it is reletively easy to get one without being asking for id or proof of who u are & relation to the persons birth cert u require - shocking!!!
|
Re: Passport making me example ?
Eventually i get thro to the person dealing with my claim - now on phone fanging!
|

Re: Passport making me example ?
Absolute disgrace.:(
I'd be on to the papers if it's not sorted pronto, and your family holiday is at risk. Like Marg said, try Greg Pope, that's what he's there fore. |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Quote:
The reason I asked is because we were under the impression that all first time applicants now have to have an interview. On closer reading of the information on the passport office website it contradicts itself by saying in one paragraph you may have to have an interview then in the next paragraph saying you will required to have an interview  Quote:

Re: Passport making me example ?
Just a note.
I've just renewed my passport, even though it had three years to run. The reason being that from next year, even for renewals, we'll all have to go to Liverpool for eye recognition and laser finger printing, as part of the supposed drive for greater security. You can add any unused time on to your new passport. |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Problem is that one of the reasons we think there are problems ( ie electoral roll privacy for protection reasons ) is also the reason Mel can't go to the papers
|
Re: Passport making me example ?
Unbeleiveable silly moo even admitted my point - its upto me to prove who i am not for them to check me   still on phone!
|
Re: Passport making me example ?
Sorry to hijack your thread Mel, but might help some other people.
A renewed message about passports, and time running out I have for some weeks been urging readers to renew their passports, because you will soon not be able to do this without being fingerprinted and placed forever on the national identity register. I think fingerprinting is for burglars, and registers are for sex offenders, and I am afraid that millions of people are as yet unaware that this is going to happen. I don't want anyone to be taken by surprise when it does. If you want to be registered as if you were a cow, and fingerprinted as if you were a mugger, then fine. If not, you need to act soon. Please do spread the warning as widely as you can The interrogation centres where the fingerprinting will be done are being built and equipped, right now. And at some point in the next 18 months, perhaps much sooner, those who seek to renew their passports will be told they cannot do so unless they attend at one of these centres, often quite distant from their homes. I suspect there will be no warning, just an announcement that this is now the rule. The law has already been passed, and merely needs to be brought into force. The price of renewal goes up in October, yet another reason to get on with it. Here are some questions and answers which may help those who have not yet acted. Q. My passport is valid until 2014. Why renew now? A. Because if you wait until 2014, and probably a great deal sooner than that, you will have to be fingerprinted and registered forever on a state database, simply to get a new passport, whether or not you wish to have a supposedly 'voluntary' Identity Card. Q. How soon will this happen? A. I do not know. The preparations are far advanced and the law already in place. My guess is that you are safe for some months yet, but I cannot be sure. My advice is to renew as soon as your summer holiday is over. Q. Officials say that this change only affects new applicants and I do not need to worry. A. This is a confusion of two completely different things. Pay no attention. New applicants do already need to attend an interview. Fingerprinting and registration are a separate issue, and have not yet come in. But they will. Q. Do I get any credit for the unexpired time on my old passport? A. Yes, you get a maximum of nine months credit for unexpired time. Q. Can I do this at any time? A. Yes, you can. You're the one paying the fee. Q. I'm told that new passports are microchipped. Surely that means this is all too late? A. They are microchipped, but the microchip - at present - contains only the normal information written in your passport. Some people may find this objectionable, but it is nothing like as objectionable as being fingerprinted. Q. Surely, once ten years are up, I'll have to be fingerprinted and registered anyway, and this is all futile? A. Not necessarily. If enough people renew early, it will be a sign of major resistance to the Identity Card scheme, and political pressure will grow for its abandonment. Also, if , ten years hence, several million people - whose passports all come up for renewal in the same short period - all refuse to be fingerprinted and registered, will the government be able to refuse them all the right to go abroad? Now, and ten years hence, it faces the government with real, effective resistance. Please tell all your friends to act now. 26 June 2007 | Permalink | Comments (22) Share this article: What is this?

When my mate was applying for his, they said they wouldn't be calling for interviews for people that didn't have a local office to be interviewed at, because apparently they have to pay for traveling costs if it is a certain millage out of their way. God knows Dave...... I seriously think they are making their minds up as they go along!! |
Re: Passport making me example ?
I will win I will win pedantic gets!
They are ringing me back - funny if they check my forms its the same number as she has to speak to her supervisor mmm cos i wouldnt let it lie they are now arguing over 1/2 sodding months of 2006 that i didnt cover - so im arguing my sols letter they are now checking that with electoral role [i did remind them im not on it] ummmmm she will ring back in 15mins! I argued point over the above post for all you tax payers ^^ not happy & still got big guns to come out if still no resolution - i bet they put me for that interview now! |

Garinda, you won't have to go to Liverpool as they are opening a passport office in Blackburn.

Thats one of the most stupid points. The kids passports have arrived, they accept Mel is their mother but she can't have a passport  |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Ah well not looking good unless i want to pay private fee for having a letter done by my doctor - that is the only way & i know my doctor - it'll be an expensive letter!
She wont even take a letter from Greg Pope, whom i will be contacting anyway as this is not only a constitutional issue but national issue that they government proposals on what it is seen to stop terrorism & fraud is simply stopping ordinary folk born & bred going anywhere! Looks like theres no holiday sun for me im afraid - i better make most of yorkshire :( I knew my complicated life would get in the way & it has i cannot escape the bully that has ruined my life! |

Re: Passport making me example ?
God pass - hard to do an email or call MPs when one is in such emotional distress & without getting mad, swearing or in floods of tears - this is what this mess has done to me, im beginning to wish i'd stayed in bed today is definately one of those days.
There are things i should be doing rather than still in jammys just had brekki after a morning & half spent on this load of shiiiii! |
Re: Passport making me example ?
So to sum up, despite you paying taxes in the past & the government paying you our taxes in child benefit and benefits, the passport office refuse to beleive you are a British Citizen. This makes you an illegal immigrant which technically gives you more rights to a British passport than you have now anyway.
|
Re: Passport making me example ?
Isn't Christopher Hitchen the atheist brother of Peter Hitchen, who is the journalist in the Mail?????
Anyway, they don't ake as much notice of those renewing their passports(well, at present, anyway) they are more interested in those requesting passports for the first time. |

Re: Passport making me example ?
Good grief Mel. That's a horrendous saga and absolutely ludicrous on the part of the Passport Office.
How on earth can they have happily given your children their passports with you as their mother if they still don't believe you are you? Sheer, total, absolute, utter madness! I can understand how you feel like you are bashing your head against an unrelenting brick wall. Busman and I went through a similar ever decreasing circle when we got married. I didn't want to change my name to Mrs. Busman out of deference to my kids and their relationship with their deceased father but equally Busman didn't want to become Mr. Whisp. So we opted for a hyphen. We asked at the register office how we go about officially becoming Mr & Mrs Busman-Whisp (or Whisp-Busman) and were told that once we had signed the cert in our old names that was it - just tell the world that our new name was the double barrelled one and hey presto all would be well. Oh yeah? So we try to get it changed on the electoral roll and they want documentation from the Bank, so we try to get it changed at the Bank and they want documentation from the council! Aaaargh! :bangh8: Eventually I found one obscure storecard of mine which would simply accept my word for it and that started the ball rolling and eventually others followed on from that until eventually I think we got through to everybody but it took months. Also it never ceases to amaze me how many organisations accept a birth certificate as proof of ID when I, as an amateur genealogist, know that it is no such thing. I have applied for umpty million birth, marriage and death certificates on behalf of people whose family trees I have been tracing and you don't even have to be related to the person never mind BE them! I do wish you luck Mel and hope that you can get through this stupid mess and get somebody to see sense. Don't give up. When are you planning on going on holiday? Here are contact details for Greg Pope if that helps. |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Well in the eyes of this country im just a mother - no person in my own right - gee felt like that at times but never thought that would actually be the truth. Would of gone if all was well in Aug sometime but seems cos of me that might be kyboshed or they may just go without me. No matter which way atm i really depressed about this issue:(
Not even changed names just went back to birth yeh i was told the same thing about it being easy too - absolutely not would of been easier to change name by deed poll in the long run. |

Re: Passport making me example ?
I really don't get what their problem is Mel.. What else can you do to prove who you are?? I know you have mentioned benefits, have you thought of Family allowance, as there has been no break in benefit and you have claimed for that since the kids were born so they will have continuous addresses for you??
Just a thought!!! Hope you sort it.. Ps. Why can't you use the tenancy agreement as proof of address?? |
Re: Passport making me example ?
Quote:
As for tenancy agreement - it wouldnt do altho the passport agency knows previous name used, as i have been in my birth name & im using that they wanted - clarifying which i have but the reason why my tenancy agreement [cos i had to do a new one with HH takeover last yr] they bozed that up too as i posted http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...nce-22108.html So that wont do now:( very picky indeed are the passport agency. But they do realise i rent my house & they dont want HH proof they want other proof too. |

Re: Passport making me example ?
Another thing about passports - why do you have to have 6months still valid on them to travel to most countries? We were just about to book a last minute holiday to get away for a week in the summer holidays and then realised that the kids passports both expire in Jan 08. This, of course, means less that 6 months to go on them.
If you have to have 6 months left on your passport why do you have to buy a 10 year one, why not a nine and half year one? |
