P.S. I wasn't being cheeky with the kaftan top, they are very fashionable at the moment, and are easy to make.

The only bit that took any time to do was the binding round the neckline. I may resort to creating some of those again if I can't find anything worth having in the shops. I just got bored with them all and they ended up going to a charitable cause in Cambridgeshire (don't ask) Quote:
http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/a...1&d=1185439471 First of all the bared shoulder (and in many cases also bared midriff) is not an option for me as it falls far short of Mormon standard. Secondly I would get myself thoroughly tangled up trying to wrap myself up in 8 yards of material. and thirdly, it's hardly practical for camping in muddy fields. :D I'm going to serioiusly create some batwing blouses and/or kaftan tunicy things when we get back I think but in the meanwhile I shall soldier on through my several soggy weeks of camping with these combats and t-shirts that I have and for the evenings the brilliant scrunchable skirts suits that I got off Morecambe market years ago and can't be beaten for non-creasability and ease of washing and drying. Even that flippin stall didn't have the sort of practical things I like last time I went there! It's a conspiracy I tell ya!:D |
Re: Fat person's grumble about shops which supposedly sell clothes for fat people
i have a problem buying trousers, jeans and shoes,im not overwight but im not slim either,im a 12/14 in trousers and at 5ft3 i can only shop at newlook and next for jeans/trousers im a 28ins leg,and most shops only do 30 - 34 inside leg,and getting a size14 they must think your 5ft6 it seams to be that most shops only do a certain waist and leg size,my shoe size is 7 but i cant buy long or knee high boots because i have short legs and big feet, its like putting wellies on that go over my knees, its about time that the shops learned that we all come in all shapes and sizes and we are not the standard manaquin/model size and shape

A sari must be hell when you go to the toilet.........I can envisage half of that material draping itself neatly into the pan.....and me, later that day wondering why I smell of wazz!

I don't think I'd ever master all that 'pleating with your fingers at the front' business. :D
I must add though that although my pics show bare shoulders they are usually worn over the top of a cropped blouse type thing which covers the shoulders and tops of arms but leaves the midriff bare - it's round the back then where all those nice spare tires tend to be on show. |

I once worked for a consultant surgeon who made derogatory comments about my lack of stature........I told him that they don't make diamonds the size of house bricks, and that many a big apple is rotten......that shut him up!

I have the dreaded ducks disease too......you know, where your BTM is too close to the ground.......I always have trouble getting the right leg length in trousers.....I need a 27in....sometimes I will go for cropped...which are full length on me.
If I sewed together all the material that I have cut off trousers over the years I am sure there would be enough to supply all the sails for a good sized yacht! |
Re: Fat person's grumble about shops which supposedly sell clothes for fat people
Some of the Indian Doctors that I worked with used to wear long sleeved T shirts under their sari's....especially in winter.
