Arranging Your Own Funeral

My mum called for a brew this morning and during our chat she calmly told me that she has arranged her funeral. I must say that when she told me I found the thought of it very weird, but in retrospect have now changed my mind. She has decided what she wants and paid for it. God willing she will be around for many years to come.

Pre-paid funerals are a good idea. Some may find the idea morbid but let's face it,death comes to us all. With a pre-paid funeral the person concerned gets to express their wishes directly to the Funeral Director, the pressure of sorting out the funeral and hoping that it's what the deceased would have wanted is taken off the family when the time comes. Also if you arrange your funeral now you will get it at today's prices,so very economical too.:)

I think it makes very good sense, but somehow I can't bring myself to do it yet

I also think it is a good thing, as Mum said everything is in place now down to how many cars we will have. She has decided what she wants and her wishes will be respected, just feels a bit odd talking to someone so close about it and as you say all at todays prices. The price for one car has risen by £60 since last year.:)

When mum died she'd told me in passing what hymns she wanted etc. I dont think i could do that right now - im only 40 i've still got the rest of my life to live yet. And with any luck it'll be a lot longer.

They will do just fine..............I was a laughing person in life, and if there is a life after death and I can see people, I want to be laughing in death too. :D

I think it's a good thing to talk about if it makes you feel better.

One thing's for certain...we're all going to have one!:D

For my nearest and dearest I know what hymns and readings are to be requested, and what the donations should be for if people wish to give.

That is just what mum said when she told me and though you would rather not think about it must make the inevitable easier, I think it makes sense if you can bring yourself round to accepting the fact that it comes to us all:D
