You tell them mate as I said before he is a toss pot and hopefully he will never get to be king and the honour will pass to William.

Granted, and I make no excuse for him. What I am saying is that this lament for Diana is as misguided and ill judged as that marriage. She knew the history and she knew the risks, yet she chose to accept him and took his ring and then wrote her life story before her baying public.

Are you from Yorkshire or Burnley?

What would you rather have? A Mr Bush, A Junky in a track suite?

She was nineteen!

..and despite her priviliged background, was ill educated, both academically and in the ways of the world. She'd never had a boyfriend, and foolishly thought the man who asked her to be his wife actually loved her.

Let’s hope it’s not Harry are we’ll have a commoner back on the thrown. :D

Actually I think Charles would have made a good head of State, but I will give way and agree with you that perhaps it would be good for the country if the title went to William when the time comes. :)

As I have said before he was the one carrying on, if Diana tried to get on with her life later she certainly paid with her own life. I will always believe she was done away with because she might have married Dodi and brought shame on the monarchy as if toss pot hadn't. Oh but I forgot he's a man so that's okay!!

right lets sum this up- Charles heir to the throne - must have his own heir. Camilla - ugly hanging bag, been around the block a bit- probably a good lay- but NO breeding potential, due to the latter. Diana- average looking bird, NO track record, unlike Camilla, EXCELLANT breeding potential. so its no contest, Charles MUST have an heir.right or wrong thats how they play the game. and that ladies is how i see it.;)

If you're a monarchist you can't pick who in the line of succession you want. You have to have whoever is next.

It seems strange to me that even Prince Edward's daughter is higher in the line of succession then Princess Anne, because that's the way it works. The off-spring of a son out ranks a daughter.

Pity really, because Princess Anne certainly has more balls than Charles.:D

The list is here, if anyone want's to check where they are on it.:D

Granny. It is my hope that those who genuinely wish to celebrate the life of Diana and remember her for her good deeds on earth are allowed to do so in peace and harmony. Those who don’t should stay away and allow matters to proceed. Above all else the right and privileges of her lads should be up held and respected.

Some people are worldly at nineteen, others aren't. She certainly wasn't.

She was just a pawn being played by her grandmother Lady Fermoy, and the late Queen Mother.

No one sat her down and explained the situation about having to share her husband with his mistress. If they had she would have had a choice.

I fear your opinion maybe somewhat different if some scummy man had entered into a marriage with a daughter of your's, under the same circumstances. In fact I think you'd probably go after him with a gun.

Her brother was a sixteen year old schoolboy at the time, and as closted and cocooned from real life as Diana was.

In these days of tabolid journalism and Google Page Ranking manipulation , I would suggest that if anyone deserves to carry on with the title 'Peoples Princess" it should be that Colleen girl , Wayne Rooneys fiance , from what I see she is more in touch with the 'common folk' than Diana ever was , doesn't seem to have a decietful bone in her body , no guile or ulterior motives, no pretensions, you get what you see.....a good looking well fed healthy lass , who seems to have her head screwed on right .......;) ;) ;)

An interesting site indeed. Canada is a monarchy and most of the country ... I would say Quebec is different for good historical, ethnic and cultural reasons .... are quite content with our system. We are a strong, rich, and free democratic country and having Elizabeth II as our monarch does not interfere with any of that. Canadian First Nations people are particularly in favor of the monarchy, and loyal to the crown. I personally do not see any problem with having a head of state who is above and outside politics. The way things are going in the States, with Bush succeeding Bush, and maybe Clinton, Clinton; and with the Kennedy's still powerful in politics, it seems like heredity might be catching on there.

Re: Bolts of lightning expected Friday?

I think I must have read a different newspaper to everyone else - but don't ask me which one it was because it was just whichever one happened to be left in the shop when I got there. What I read said that Camilla hadn't wanted to attend the memorial service but that it was Charles insisting that she should go.

I think if she did attend and if anyone did anything nasty to her then they would be showing disrespect to Diana by disturbing a memorial service for her and showing disrespect to her sons who chose to invite Camilla.

The Queen, it said, was in favour of her attending but eventually supported her decision not to attend.

As for Harry. There was a photo of him in the paper and he doesn't half look like Charles and Prince Philip these days. There's that same eyes and nose.

There'll never be perspective on it, as long as people carry on believing the conspiracy theories.

This week lots of the press are still claiming she was pregnant, and not by Doddy, oops, meant Dodi.

Re: Bolts of lightning expected Friday?

I wish today's memorial service would draw a line under the Diana mystique but I doubt it will. I am tired of hearing and reading about her death, with all the attendant theories, and even more tired of the continuing outpourings about her.

When she died I found the public reaction nauseating and not a little unhealthy. The loud proclamations of grief from people who didn't know her, except as a media image, were disturbing to say the least. It was very like the hysteria whipped up when some film stars have died. It's a sad occasion when any person dies and it's natural to cry for the loss of a friend or loved one but to grieve over a woman known only by her public persona is just idol worship. The "was she murdered?" aspect is very like the "is Elvis really dead?" one and it's constantly fuelled by the media because it sells newspapers.

I don't like Camilla but I don't like the disfunctional family she has married into either. However, whether she had attended today's service or not was their business and no one else's.

Totally agree, especially the part about the public reaction. Karma sent.

I found the service to be touching and genuine. I felt for the lads and their father and wished that this blot on our National Landscape would also end in line with the wishes of the Princes’ and that they, their father and the Nation should move on remembering the good and sincere deeds of Diana and putting behind us the negatives of her short time on this plane. Let her rest now and move forward.

It is strange all this fuss about the tenth anniversary of her sad demise, and these two very public events to commemorate it.

It's never happened for any other public figure. Churchill, Queen Victoria, no one.

Harry's speech today was good. The only thing I'd have added was that today's memorial be the day all this eulogising ends, and that she's finally allowed to rest in peace. Not much chance of that though, I fear.

He's a sad little man.

Never mind all his conspiracy theories, if he had employed competent security and drivers, Diana would still be alive today.

Speculative in the least, after the emotion of Young Harry this afternoon and the clerics request for closure on the matter, a former close protection officer was spouting the same dribble within an hour of the service ending. Diana Princess of Wales chose to accept security from Al Fayed rather than the nominal security offered by the state as the mother of the future King of England. It was her choice to be with Dodi and she accepted the risks and unfortunately and with regret and she paid the price. If Dodi loved Diana in the way he professed to do so, would he have allowed a driver twice over the limit to take her and himself on the roads of Paris, some of the worst in the world. Maybe it was just an accident; maybe some of the darker elements of the state played some part, which ever it was she chose to be where she was and paid with her life. Don’t blame Al fayed, Charles, god are anyone else. Let it rest.

It wasn't her choice to lose the title Her Royal Higness, and the offical police security that afforded her.

Ya' gotta' laugh haven't you ... this thread had almost discussed itself out and laid to rest, then along comes someone who bumps up the thread again by complaining about people still wanting to remember Diana. Who's keeping it going I wonder ?

Totally agree with the last part of that. It was a private family service by the princes in remembrance of their mother. Who they invited or didn't invite was up to them not the general public.

Yes, I suppose it was bound to be newsworthy but I think they could have drawn the line at televising it as it was not supposed to be a public event like her funeral or the pop concert.

I think it's highly unlikely that we will ever forget her, there are bound to be differences of opinion regarding whether we should keep mentioning her, but feel it is inevitable that her name will keep cropping up. Whether people like it or not it is bound to happen as the Princes progress through their lives, there are always going to be some members who are interested!

Well, I for one am certainly not interested.

I woke up yesterday morning and shortly afterwards switched on the telly to the BBC. What did I see? A mini version of the same mass hysteria that gripped large numbers of the otherwise sane population of this country ten years ago. I had hoped that this embarassing episode in our past would never be repeated but it looks like I was wrong. The loonatics were let out of the asylum again.

Anyway, 30 seconds of watching the weeping women and the crackpots in the crowd outside the Guards Chapel was enough; I switched over to ITV and guess what? Exactly the same wastrels popped up there. I decided I'd had enough and did the sensible thing and went back to bed.

I trust we won't get more of this nonsense in another 10 years time.
