Prison Officers Strike
I spoke to a mate of mine who rang me from inside who told me the Prison Warders strike has been complete disaster... say's he had to make do with cheese & ham sandwiches for lunch, the "in house" snooker tournament was cancelled ,and to top it all his Sky digital has gone on the blink so he missed the Champions League game!
It's a liberty! |

Re: Prison Officers Strike
I don't think he will get sympathy here :D
As a former public service trade union member I am glad that the warders may be regaining the right to withdraw their labour -- a basic right of any working man/woman. |

And speaking as a current Public Service TU representative I fully applaud the POAs attempt to secure a realistic increase for its members. |
Re: Prison Officers Strike
I can't afford Sky Sports (not that I would if I could :D )

Re: Prison Officers Strike
I fell for it too - but it gives us a chance to discuss it
Solution - get a few armed squaddies in to throw crusts through the bars ;) |
Re: Prison Officers Strike
ya been on the looney juice again mancie?:rofl38: seriously though i disagree with the way the strike has been managed, i.e. striking with no notice, whilst having no sympathy with the lags, there will have been families travelling to visit etc, without being aware visiting was cancelled. i have sympathy for the prison officers at the end of the day 2 1/2 % is not outrageous, but theres more than 1 way to skin a cat.;)

Re: Prison Officers Strike
Trouble is, there's some truth in it.
Someone I worked with about 20 years ago went to prison for fraud and theft. He was sent to Kirkham Open Prison for 2 years. A much younger colleague had been a friend of his and kept in touch with him. The prisoner kept fit by playing squash and kept unfit by drinking the whisky that was passed to him in Lucozade bottles. He was given Thursdays off to go to Lancaster University (unaccompanied) where he took a degree in, of all things, Finance (completely free to him) and spent a lot of the time sunbathing when he was supposed to be working in the prison garden. He was, in effect, given free board, lodgings and education as a punishment. |
Re: Prison Officers Strike
