10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
how can a judge give the idiot driving at 172 mph a 10 week jail sentence
the guy should have got more like 10 years |
Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
You have to knock over 10 MPs at 200mph to get a decent sentence these days.
...might try it :D |
Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
whereas you don't even get jail for sexual assault of an 18 month old....
BBC NEWS | England | Bristol | Man spared jail for sex attacks go figure. |
Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
Hmmmm.... 172mph? I'm not that impressed.
Now if he'd have been doing it in reverse, I may have raised an eyebrow. |

Agree with others, the sentence is appalling, and the whole system needs overhauling. |

Depending on which ones then you might get a commendation from the govenment.:eek:;) |
Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
Just the sort of ****e you get these day's. He'd have done 180 if he had taken the Aston.
The intent should have brought him 12 months at least and a ban for life. |
Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
whilst hes got a bit of bird, there is no balance in sentencing these days as the link entwisi illustrates, think folk should be more irate at that. whilst i think the sentence aint enough for him, the sentence for a pervert seems non-existant.

not condoning it wholly but one thing that isn't mentioned about the speeding is what time/conditions etc. Not knowing this road I can't comment fully and yes its illegal but there are roads I've ridden on my bike where I know there are no junctions, nothing to pull out, good visibility etc. put that road at 6am on a dead sunday morning and a properly focussed and concentrating driver can do that sort of speed in relative safety. Likewise 30 mph past a school at 3-4pm on a wet windy, horrible winters night is plain stupid. </devils advocate> |

Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
Got to agree with Entwi, Full Facts should be known, as high speed can be done with safty in mind for others at the right time and place.
As for giving him bird, just shows the pathetic system we have, when child abusers get away with nothing, but a speeder gets 6 months, MOST drink Drivers dont get that and IMO they are more a danager to the public. |

Lets be honest, even 'family cars' like modeo st220's can do ~150 nowadays. My Dad always said a monkey with a brick on the accelerator can drive fast, its for how long before he crashes that changes with skill. Speed doesn't kill, its a sudden change in speed that does! :D |
Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph
I think the whole justice system is wrong, ban and a big fine is more appropriate, he hasn't caused any injury by his actions (this time). I also agree that the other factors should be taken into consideration too.

Re: 10 weeks prison for driving at 172mph

Whether you think that the road conditions would allow you to travel at excessive speeds in safety is irrelevant. Go above 70 mph and you break the Road Traffic Laws. It is as simple as that. All speed limits are qualified with - if road conditions allow. There are thousands of miles of country roads where the speed limit is 30 mph yet to travel along them at that speed would be foolish. What sort of a response do you think that your defence of “your honour I was only doing 29 mph but I had to go wide at the bend otherwise I couldn’t have negotiated the corner” would bring? On the face of it 10 weeks clink does seem lenient but he was also banned for three years and order to re-take the test. |
