Rat Horror
 

It seems that there is a rat invasion in Accrington, residents of Owen Street, Whalley Road, Hood Street and Dowry Street are being plagued with them. One resident says that they have been sharing her fruit bowl. That is gross and another one said one was sitting on her windowsill. Residents say there are a number of reasons for the increase including the large number of take-aways on Whalley Road and lack of action by Network Rail. Think I will avoid the take-aways after reading this!!!

Maybe I am being a tad dense here but Network Rail being part of the problem?:confused::confused::confused: The take aways I can understand that I cant. Rats once established are nigh on impossible to be exterminated. Will take forever to get it under control this "epidemic" and will be expensive. Would it also mean a change in refuse collection as well.

They reckon you're never more than 6ft away from one now, don't they?
I have only ever seen one and that was whilst I was driving over Whinney Hill tip a couple of years ago. Great big hairy thing it was, running from one side of the road to the other, but I coped because I was in my car.

If I came face to face with one on the street or worse, at home, I would probably scream, wet myself, then pass out!:eek:

Better off with ferrets or polecats as they could get in were the rats do.

Spuggie think a lot of them come down from the railway tracks, I have seen quite a few when waiting for the train in Accrington. Lilly the thought of them makes me shiver don't know how I would cope with one taking fruit out of my fruitbowl!!!

So what's the council doing about this? When I was rodent control operative for Accrington Corporation in the early 70's, myself and my colleague went round every manhole in town baiting them with poison. That certainly did for plenty of the little blighters! Don't they do this anymore?

The residents have been told to contact Enviromental Health if they need help

my "loverly" cat "kitty" brings me presents of dead rats places them outside on the patio ..i can leave them dead there for a few days all ok as soon as i shift it ..there comes another dead one eeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwww i hate um too but these are only smallish.
