Actually West Ender it was Whit Monday.

Long overdue.

Many people will forget the reason but that is not sufficient reason not to have a National Remembrance Holiday
in honour of those who had their lives taken from them in protecting the nation.

After all Good Friday is a bank holiday.

Not sure that I understand you Willow ... just like Mayday would be within the 33 days, not absolutely sure that they would raise it up to 34... hmm, ok see what you mean, maybe you right. Won't be popular with employers I guess though.

Will have to investigate Employment Law a little more. To be honest, not good at this. Always, being salaried, not sure that if you are paid by the hour, would a Public Holiday be given with full pay ?

It actually refers to the Sunday.

White Sunday.

Whit Monday gets its English name for following "Whitsun"

You are quite right, JB, the holiday was Whit Monday. I should have said Whitsuntide. :)

This so-called GREAT country cannot decide whether it can or cannot afford to issue medals for those that it has sent out to die in Afganistan, Iraq and Iran!!

To offer us an extra day off "in remembrance" of those that gave their lives is crap. There is an election coming up - and this is the carrot...........SICK!!!

Of course! I’ve never known a bank holiday to fall on a Sunday.

Maybe it was looking through the bottom of the glasses that confused you?

I agree with busman, this is just another opportunity for Brown and co to bribe the gullible into voting for them. Brown would earn more respect by commiting the government to taking better care of our soldiers and veterans while they are still alive.
