And now the ones who would be most better off without it are going to be force fed it.

Can you taste it in your water Willow? Ian keeps complaining but don't know if it's just his tastebuds:confused:

As far as I know United Utilities do not put fluoride in the water.

If I remember correctly the government chickened out on this issue and left it to the various water companies whether to add fluoride or not. But it had to be with the approval of their customers.

Why on earth would they put fluoride in drinks? How would they be able to ensure children dont have too much intake of it and do damage to themselves?

Its bad enough that there is loads of rubbish in the drinks already being covered up by advertising saying its 'good' for children. Yeh it might be good that its making them drink plenty of water, but theyre also getting children to drink chemicals and crap that isnt necessary.

I have got to say that this idea has clearly not been given much thought and if they implement it then its just blatantly irresponsible.

It looks like Big Brother has been taking care of the nations fluoride needs in our drinking water for some time. I don’t really see the need to have it added to fizzy drinks. Apparently our intake is monitored in any event.

United Utilities

It is very easy to install your own water filter system with its own tap on the sink
Water Gem - made by Aquacure of Southport

As far as I am aware they add it to different water supplies around the country. I know dentists used to prescribe the fluoride tablets to children round here so i'm guessing it isnt added to our water supply.

Does it have anything to do with 'soft' and 'hard' water does anyone know?

I'm assuming that the levels in each area are monitored and adjusted accordingly to suit any deficiencies "at the request of the Strategic Health Authority"

:mad:I have resurrected this thread because today the Times published this

Minister orders fluoride to be added to water - Times Online

ALAN JOHNSON, the health secretary, will this week tell health chiefs in areas of England with the highest rates of tooth decay to add fluoride to the water supply to improve the dental health of poor children

I wish they would stop meddling with what goes down our throats:mad:

I have not changed my view since my last post on this issue so there is no point in repeating it again.

However I wonder if anyone else whose views are the same as mine actually bothered to make those views known to the minister responsible and their own MP. Or is it too much of a bother and in any case leave it to someone else.

Alan Johnson the MP for Hull West has a web site at http://www.alanjohnson.org/ and there is a contact form. It couldn’t be easier to make your views on the Fluoride issue known to the minister responsible for this latest government interference in our lives.

If I knew how I would launch a petition on the Downing Street web site. Maybe we could do it together?

On the squillion to one chance that Johnson will read this thread let me make it quite clear to him and to anyone else with similar ideas.

NO FLUORIDE ADDED TO FOOD, DRINKS AND WATER.
