Re: Allegiance to the Queen

What about when the queen dies - do we still pledge allegiance to the queen then even though its a king and plus would we all have to pledge allegiance to the king when he comes to the throne?

Obviously, it's doomed to failure.

At last someone else has twigged that all these crackpot ideas pouring out of the government are nothing more than a puerile attempt to distract us from the real issues.
Illegal wars costing us more and more each year. £3.3 billion this year alone. Imagine what could have been done with that.
Refusing to have a referendum on the EU constitution/treaty.
Plus what you posted.

I certainly wasn't going to stand up for the wife of a man whose grandfather happened once to have been King.

I'd quite happily stand for an elected head of State, and if the people decided by voting, that that person happened to be the Queen, so be it.

I was brought up to respect all people.

Those, who by accident of their birth, should get no more, or less, respect than anyone else, in my opinion.

I’ll go along with that wholeheartedly.

I would just add that all immigrants should swear allegiance to this country and its laws or they don’t get in.

Ring dem bells!

We are in agreement.:p

On the plus side, I think immigrants do currently have to swear allegiance to the Crown, at their citizenship ceremonies.

Re: Allegiance to the Queen

My understanding of this idea is that kids will be asked to swear allegiance to the Queen when they reach the age of 16 and that this will involve a one and only ceremony. This is complete nonsense.

Every child, upon commencement of school or even nursery should be made to raise their hand and swear allegiance to the Queen. This should be an integral part of the enrollment process; in addition, the same exercise should be repeated each morning for the rest of their school lives. Any dissension should be firmly met - cane the little brats if they object and if their mouthy mothers turn up to complain, give them a good spanking as well.

Hopefully, within a few years all of this vile republican garbage will have been flushed out of our body politic and we can get down to some serious debate about the issues that really matter. If that upsets the likes of those loverboys Garinda and Jambutty - you know what they can do. Emigrate.
