Here We Go Again.
At 0100 on Sunday the 30th March 2008 we are all obliged to go through the ridiculous annual ritual of moving all clocks, watches and time pieces forward one hour. And then in October we have to put the time back one hour. Its called “Daylight Saving Time” or as we know it in the UK “British Summer Time”.
Why? What good does it do? It is daylight before 0700 and stays light until 1900 and as each day goes by it gets light earlier and stays light later. In other words from now on and for the next six months or so there are more daylight hours than there are dark hours. What is the point? Who benefits by this annual charade? It is time to stop messing around with the clocks and either settle for GMT all year round or BST all year round. |
Re: Here We Go Again.
It doesnt bother me:D
the only thing is trying to get the kids to sleep on a school night and they dont want to go to sleep because its still light!! other than that i have no problems with it;) |
Re: Here We Go Again.
Well JB you see when I go out next Tuesday(god willing)it will be still light, I don't like the dark when I'm sober, but when I'm on the way home I don't give a monkeys:D:D

Re: Here We Go Again.
It works the complete opposite for me. Whereas everyone else will get and extra hour this week, I'll loose it because say its 7am, Harry will think its 8am!! So i'll be getting an hour less! :(
Apart from that I don't really mind. It makes you feel better that its actually light when I go into work. |
Re: Here We Go Again.
should leave the clocks alone

Re: Here We Go Again.

Re: Here We Go Again.
This has been my first winter that I have rarely ventured out.
It has driven me round the twist. I doubt that I would have any semblance of sanity left if it hadn't been for Accy Web. Thank you all |
Re: Here We Go Again.
We moved ours forward a few weeks ago ... doesn't seem to make much difference, so it's not a big issue. If you don't like it JB, you could move to the Province of Saskatchewan, land of the living skies, where they don't change the clocks.:D Saskatchewan is not a bad place, friendly folks, and lots of wide open spaces ... about two and a half times as big as England with a population of less than a million ... there are lots of real cowboys there and no shortage of Indians.:D

Re: Here We Go Again.
The farmers are the ones that benefit from having the extra daylight.

It is due to the tilt of the earth creating seasons. Farmers have problems ajusting their cows to new milking times |
Re: Here We Go Again.
There's no shortage of farmers in Saskatchewan .... most of the people make their living directly or inderectly off the land. In fact, there are three wheat sheaves on the Provincial coat of arms.
