Just a few weeks ago Shameless featured a storyline about the faked abduction of a child for financal gain.

The truth's stranger than fiction, or is it the other way around?

Perhaps they'd have been better off watching Supper Nanny on the same channel.

If this turns out to be true and the family did it to gain reward money they all want locking up. Lowlife scum. Shannon doesn't appear to be the brightest of kids and "didn't know she had been abducted " , well no wonder, she hadn't ! Did they really think she wouldn't say anything when eventually "found " ?
Beggars belief.

following this from a distance , but what I think people should be concerned about is ....what happens the next time a child genuinly goes missing from a "dysfunctional/low income" home ?. Will the same cost and effort be expended as happened in this instance or will the reports of a missing child be treated with a bit more skeptisim and God forbid a sadder ending .

I suppose it depends, as to what has recently been shown on the telly.;)

In this case I agree and credit was given to Sky for breaking the news.

I would hope the the police and other agencies in the UK respond to a missing child report quickly and with all the resources available at the time.

Re: shannon mathew`s

I’m having a poor attempt at having some real empathy with the child ( thought I was half decent at putting myself in another persons shoes too) I just cannot comprehend how she must be feeling. She’s most likely too young to contemplate the effects this will have on her future life. I imagine she is frightened when she thinks of the past, the present and the future. Then again she may feel some kind of relief, who knows.

Whatever the case, I hope she had a nice warm cuddle before bed tonight and gets all the support she needs from a new loving family ( should she not be returned to her own)

I'm curious as to why she can't go and live with her natural father ?

They seem to be unearthing stuff about the family on a daily basis, maybe they are just being cautious and trying to cover all eventualities…I dunno mate

Can't believe this woman gave such a performance initially, was actual tears plopping on my cheeks as I watched her .. she must at least be offered an Oscar ... !!!

In defence, does sound like she was quite scared of her partner... or does it ?

No defence for her Katex, anyone who spends their money on "pop and sweets rather than nappies" deserves no sympathy and does deserve the neglect charge.
