Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
I think there should be a prize for the best named baby.
I was requested to pm one of our overseas members, with a few of the choicest. I think it's great that all the babies are in one issue, rather than a few each week, for what seems like months on end. Nothing against babies, but I buy the paper to read the news, not to look at other people's kids. I do hope they decide to do the same for the 'Glasses Wearer of the Year', and the cutest pussy competition too. |

Emily Mae McNaught. She's the one on page37 with eyes like saucers!!!! she looks somewhere between utter shock and disbelief!!!! I have to admit its not the most flattering photo of her, (kipax gets the credit for that pic!!!) and I certainly wont be buying the £25 photo pack they try and flog to you at the photographers!!! Still she's gorgeous to us and we've got some lovely shots of her, cheeky monkey!!! |
Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
Flashy - She is in this weeks
And some of the photos are ok, on some of them the lighting seems all wrong and they look like little tomatoes. I was gonna enter the twins then thought that I didnt want them competing against each other, then i realised yesterday that they picture twins together, if id have realised that then i would have entered them I just didnt want them doing individually. |
Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
I wish the Observer would stop wasting news space doing Bonny Baby comps.......as noted by previous posters, family will always think their own baby is best......it isn't newsworthy, it isn't even interesting.

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
At least the babies are real, more than can be said for a lot of the crap they tell you is news :D

I bet some parents aren't very happy though. Could be something to do with the printing. They had some like these for the groups of revellers in pubs ... made them look like rip roaring dipsos. Seemed to have improved on them, but slips back now and then. Must have been on my mind last night. In the middle of another dream, had to get this child of about 6 months out of her cot and she was dressed in a red jumpsuit ... dripping white nappy and hadn't been fed. Was having a normal conversation with her to enquire if she would like any breakfast and she requested sausage/egg and chips ! Was trying furiously to get her cleaned up !! Can't remember if I did .. :D:D |

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
I had alook at the photos last night, I have never seen such a daft array of names in my life. I will not repeat any here as I post under my name but have a look yourselves folk, some of them are just embarassing, poor kids.

I love reading the names.:p People can Eboni-Mae it all they want, but they can't get away from the good old northern surnames like Higginbottom, that they're stuck with.:D |
Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
My nephew is in Luke Stanley Nicholson, obviously the Stanley is to do with Accrington Stanley ;)

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
Now that's a sensible name, at least it's not some made up nonsense., or a set of initials.

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
I tell ya something that happened to me this morning.
Walking kids up to school and there was this big mouthed mother " OY, get away from that f'in road " I thought " OMG, what a way to shout at your kids" Then further up the street she shouts " SHAKIRA, I said get away from that F'in road ":eek: That just said it all for me, I nearly chocked on my laughter. |

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
See they have put them all in again this week .. and looking much more presentable, have toned down on the red ink. Will give the ones that looked like little Red Indians a fighting chance ... :)
Perhaps they read our thread ? |

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
Reminds me of when our grandaughter was in, Ian bought loads of copies and asked folk in Canine to vote for her. Only problem was he was going to put all votes in one envelope till I pointed out it would look a tad suspicious!!!

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008

Re: Observer Baby Competition 2008
I have voted once or twice if a close relative or friend has had their baby's picture in.
I have never voted for a baby I don't know. I don't really look at them to be honest. |
