As I posted way back when, in theory this seems like a good idea, but there is too little information as to what will happen, and what the costs will be.

Er...yes.
It's only later you realise that you're paying less tax at the expense of services being cut.
I bet Scottish devolution seemed like a good idea at the time. Well at least until the costs of the new parliament building spiralled from £50 to £414 million, and we now have the situation whereby English taxes pay to maintain the system, Scottish M.P.'s are allowed to vote at Westminster on things that apply only to England and Wales. In short the whole thing is a complete mess.
With what could possibly be the biggest change in local government since 1974, the whole thing seems under planned to say the least, and that's aside from the debacle of the undelivered forms. |
