It does Bernie, but it is unsafe to generalise....and some of the women I have cared for would have given anything not to be in that position.
We cannot judge what is going on in someone elses life...even if we think we would cope......sometimes (sad though it is)...it is for the woman, the only way out.

I wouldn't have a problem with that except that if the foetus (we'll call it by the medical terminology) went to full term, was born and then the mother just left it to die in a kidney dish - she'd be charged with murder. I'm sorry I have tried, really I have, and I just can't see the difference.

Is it better for a woman to kill her baby, then grieve over the terrible decision she was "forced" to make, than to hand it over for adoption?

Westender, I can't give you a definitive answer to that.
Each individual case was different. No-one would ever force someone who didn't believe in the termination of a pregnancy, to have one.
I would never like to return to the days of women trying to procure a termination of pregnancy by unsafe means......and it is usually the poorer women who are the one who would suffer. Rich women have always been able to get such treatment at the hands of a sympatheitc gynaecologist(who was paid very well for the service).

And of course adoption would be preferable, but then the woman concerned would not be able to keep this situation to herself....everyone would be aware of her so called 'sin'.

In a perfect world only babies who were wanted would be born...but the world is not perfect, nor are the people who live in it.

To me, the expression 'killing her baby' is not warranted .. only a foetus/baby born that could survive on its own organ power is a fully formed new human being.. a 24 week foetus cannot breath as you and I .. just inner breaths. Needs intervention to survive.

Leaving a full term baby to survive in a kidney dish is obviously murder.

That's why I won't get embroiled in a full-scale discussion about the rights and wrongs of termination as that's not what this thread is about. I could argue with you for ever and I wouldn't change your mind, nor would you change mine.

You're right West Ender . time a line was drawn under this thread now .. think we have had all points of view, which are respected of course, but an emotive subject which very rarely entails a change of opinion.
