I am in a really bad mood

Right Let me explain my day.
It started off fine Got my high score back on space invaders (sorry sparkologist)
and i had to go to town and do a bit of shopping so i looked to see if less was online as we normally go for a quiet pint and chat in the railway on a sat anyway there he was in the games section so i contacted him and told him to meet me in the railway at 12-30pm .
i did my bit of shopping and on the way to the Railway thought i would nip into B&M's for some chili-con-carne sauce as it was very nice and i had just enough for a jar of that and a few pints with less anyway got there and no sauce so carried on to the Railway and had a few pints and a good chat with less about if we won the lottery and the world cruse we would take accyweb members on.:D
We finished our drinks and i told less i had to go back to town for some sauce so we parted there.
I went to the market but no sauce so went for the bus.
while waiting for it to arrive i got talking to a old lady there she was saying she lived in Blackburn and came over to Accrington once a month to shop on the indoor market as it got her out and about (she was on her own) at 94 she was going great
the bus came and the Que got on i was behind the old lady when it got to her turn she started looking through her bag but could not find her NOW card she said to the driver "i have lost my NOW card" all he said was if you don't have a card you will have to pay full fare, it was obvious she was well over sixty and a pensioner and would hold a pass god she was 94 she said i don't have enough for the fare, he said will its not my fault she started crying so i said for god's sake i will pay its only £1-50.
talk about jobs worth ............
(if i had put on this site what i though of him i would have had to ban myself):D

Re: I am in a really bad mood

yeah that is horrible but all the transdev buses have camera's on them nowadays, they also have a lot more inspectors getting on and off through the day, if an inspector got on and she didnt produce her pass the driver would get into trouble, the same goes for kids over 11 who dont have a pass to prove their age, they can get in trouble for that too, my bro-in-law cant and wont even let Reece on without his pass (if he doesnt have it he has to pay full price and he's only 11) and thats his own nephew, although he knows his age they still arent allowed to do it, dont blame the driver Mick, blame the company, the driver was only trying to do his job

So if i had not been behind her and paid for her ticket, flashytart she would have to walk ?
dont be stupid they can bend the rules if need be.

Well done Mick, it all goes to show that there are people in our society who are still prepared to do a good turn, and not doubt that old ladies oppinion will have changed towards the younger gerneration :angel:

Drivers should be allowed to use their discretion to some extent. They're humans not robots.
Nice one Mick.

flashy 24-05-2008 15:21

Re: I am in a really bad mood

how the hell do you suggest they use their discretion when the buses have several camera's on them and an inspector could get on at any moment?
whats so disreet about thaqt?
so its ok to risk someones job is it? what if it where your job that was at risk?

I wasn't saying that the drivers should 'be discreet'. Discretion as in using their own judgment?

I was making the point that drivers should be able to use their own judgment in all too common cases like this without fear of losing their jobs. Like you said it's Transdev's fault.

you are right shaker, yes of course they should be allowed to use their own judgement BUT unfortunately they cant, i wasnt being nasty towards the old woman, its just not fair on her, i was merely making a point
