town and country planing gone mad
a lady in denton manchester faces a heavy fine, she found a cat and put up posters to find the owner, but the town and country planing,(control of advertisements said she should have given them 28 days notice,

Re: town and country planing gone mad
Quite funny really Tosh, however, can't have everyone sticking notices around our Boroughs at will.
Doubt whether this will lady will get fined at the end of the day; not set in stone of course... |
Re: town and country planing gone mad
would it not be classed as fly posting?
|
Re: town and country planing gone mad
dont really matter what its classed as, just another glaring example of the " System" gone nuts.

Don't know what type of poster you would have objection to.. but could be advert from anything from 'Gay Rights' >> 'Immigration problems' stuck on your garden wall/lampost. Would you feel the same ?? |
Re: town and country planing gone mad
Thats the problem with only 1 Conservative on the council, no common sense

She will probably not get fined at the end of the day, due to the context of her posts (sob, sob).... however, has to be noted as not acceptable as would encourage more postings in not so emotive subjects. :( |

What about when the police put up a poster asking for witnesses to a crime or accident?

What about perspective councillors when they put up posters? One law for them sand one for us? |
Re: town and country planing gone mad
I agree with Katex.
We can't have people pinning posters up willy nilly no matter what those posters may be concerning. |
Re: town and country planing gone mad
what about the signs that say no fly posting? :D:D
|
Re: town and country planing gone mad
I don't see why she couldn't just advertise like everyone else. If everybody stuck up posters about things wherever they wanted it'd be a nightmare really wouldn't it.

Probably some prespective councillors notices are illegal if in public place, other than windows, etc. Can't recall any being on public property. At the end of the day all fly posting is illegal. |

Re: town and country planing gone mad
It is just another way for the council to get money out of somebody who was trying to be helpful. There were notices on all the lamp posts about planning application for Cannon Street Church conversion, why can they do it and nobody else? If It is anything like Accrington they would be better off using the resources to stop people parking on pavements.

Don't actually think the Council involved in this .. will have to check back .. some advertising thingy ... Think will probably be in here somewhere.. http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si1992/uksi_19920666_en_1.htm |
Re: town and country planing gone mad
So what about those advertising signs on roundabouts ( the one near to the Arndale has them and also the one near the Dunkenhalgh? Makes you wonder if they are legal though the council sells them!!
Now although I see the marketing potential - not to mention the revenue ability for HBC- I would argue that they are a traffic danger and likely to cause an accident far more than some notice on a tree for a lost cat. |
Re: town and country planing gone mad
Cats always have two homes -they are wild animals and live were they want unless they live near a takeaway

Re: town and country planing gone mad
We put up posters on Lamposts through the village for the Barrowford Show but to do this we have to seek permission from the Council and then they are allowed to go up Seven Days prior to the Event, Banners are displayed courtesy of our local landowners and posters are displayed in the village shops and pubs from about a month before and it works:)
