Here's the link.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/textbased...classroom.html No doubt it would have been lovely for the children to watch the chicks hatching out but unfortunately there were too many risks involved. Sad but true. |
Re: chicks in class fall prey to red tape
off the top off my head......
eggs...risk of salmonella/contamination/diseases, risk of breakage, allergies chicks... again disease/contamination,allergies incubator..... heat (children could burn them selves) ,over heating/fire risk i did an activity using eggs once and the children had to wear gloves and goggles..... your also not allowed to use toilet roll tubes for activities due to the risk of contamination..... |

Re: chicks in class fall prey to red tape
if your doing an activity with 30 children whats the odds of one of them putting thier fingers in their mouths?
alot of schools do get butterfly eggs that they hatch out, the children enjoy that. |

Re: chicks in class fall prey to red tape
I can remember having an incubator in my class at Junior School and watching the chicks hatch. It was really good to watch as well.

I don't understand why they can't teach them to not put their hands in their mouths at the same time, give them a lesson on food poisoning whilst theyre at it. It was never this stupid when I was at school, and I don't remember anyone getting salmonella. |
