I think it will be extra strong mints and a couple of extra coats.

New PVC doors at our house, they stop the draughts well enough I don’t think they prevent heat transfer from the outside as well as a wooden door tho. So think I will be getting some curtain poles put up and some big heavy curtains for both front and back doors.

We have a fairly large bay kitchen window too, although double glazed the cold really tumbles in on a winters night. For the last few years I’ve toyed with making some hinged wooden shutters for the window. I think that plan will be getting put into action this summer.

Don't get one of those microwave wheat ones - read in papers today of an old dear who died - it was smouldering and fired her bed

It overheated - she hadn't put a cup of water in the microwave with it when she warmed it

Yes I heard that too on the wireless earlier this evening but I didn’t want to post in case someone complained that I was complaining again.

Actually wasn’t it next year rather then winter?

Agreed! But only if you happen to be in the tropics at the time.

Unfortunately they seem to be on about a 40% increase for this years winter…possibly, could, maybe. Most likely headline grabbing, at least I hope so.

The BBC run the story like this
