I remember when Blackburn had an event like this they held it indoors - maybe they knew someone at the met office! :D

Not just Accy's weather Loz its more like Britains weather, but when we all stop driving gas guzzlers and Gordon and Alistair saved the polar bears, maybe the sun will shine on us again:D:rolleyes:

Or we continue burning fuel at a rate of knots and global warming kicks in and we end up with a sahara like climate[1] :D

[1] Actually Britain will 'cool' initially due to the North atlantic drift lessening its effect due to teh lower salt levels in teh oceans!

Oh come on, you've got to at least give people credit for trying to organise stuff.

I know the weather's rubbish but what the heck, at least there are some people out there trying to brighten things up.

If it wasn't for the 'Atlantic Conveyor' also known as the Gulf Stream, we would have the same climate as Siberia. If you learnt about convection currents in physics at school you will know how it works.
Global warming could turn it off.

Another climate factor which may affect us is 'Pole Reversal'
When North Becomes South: New Clues to Earth's Magnetic Flip-Flops
When (note not If) that happens it will be pot luck for everybody as to what climate they end up with.

PS that is if you survive the catostrophic natural disasters that go with it :D

I was going to say that, Gayle.

Some people just will not say a good word about this council under any circumstances.

Organising things cannot be easy.

You can't really blame people for lack of enthusiasm when events like this are given the status of a PB publicity stunt with undertones of 'votecatching'. He should be told to keep his mug out of it for a while.

The real publicity and praise should go to the organisers.

Good point, hon. Even if you live in a part of the world where, to say the least, the weather is a tad unpredictable, it doesn't mean that you have to stop organizing outdoor events.

Is PB not one of the organisers?

Maybe he is - but he makes sure he gets all the credit -who are the others?
Just because he very graciously  permits the use of our money for this purpose does not give him status as an organiser in my eyes.

PS now PB as a one man band I would turn out to see in any weather :D
